Time to dust off the ol' build thread. Now that the engine is in and running, I can start work on other things. Like the suspension. After adding the body lift, I want to lower it back down to a reasonable height. My plan is to remove the old add-a-leaf and BJ spacer, as well as relax the torsion bars a bit.

Eventually. Maybe I'll get a start on it next year, but I want to enjoy the new motor for a while.

Things to do before I take her on any trips:

1) Re-do the brakes. They are rusted and warped. New rotors, drums, shoes, pads, and cable.
2) Remove lift. The BJ spacers, torsion bars, and add-a-leafs are all going back to stock. If I need to, I might patch the UCA.
3) Balance the driveshaft. It wobbles a bit. It's not bad up to 50, but I think it'll get worse above 60.
4) Fix my front signals. The custom circuit I made works on one side, but not the other. I want to make a smaller, simpler circuit to replace that.

There are a few other little things left over from the engine swap I want to take care of, but they are getting done in due time. Right now, I need to focus on my Celica. The CEL is on, and I need to drop the rear suspension to fix the issue. Garage time!

Nice !!

#3.... How are you going to balance the shaft?
#4 .... I used a trailer signal box for the rear lights when wiring a trailer into your harness. We then used the wires to make the front marker lights blink. Cheap and very simple.

#3- I'll probably take it to a shop somewhere.
#4- That's a great idea, I'm using that.

#3... I thought you may know something about driveshaft balancing I didn't.
#4 ... gonna do the same to the 4runner when I tackle the wiring for the diesel swap.

Thanks!

Not the O2 sensor: It's the stupid charcoal canister and a VSV. Toyota put them under the body in the back for some reason, on Celicas, Camrys, and Corollas.

I wanted to get some of these things done for at least ONE trip to my parents' place, and they're having a party this weekend. So after a pricey trip to Napa, I got some brakes on. I'll make the final fuel line tomorrow, but 3/4 of the brakes are done as of tonight.

Stickers on the exhaust still throw me off every time I get out... "Is something burning?"

New brakes all around. Still a bit soft, but I'll bleed the last bit this weekend.

And with a propane and 2 electric heaters, last night frosted up the glass.

And my Christmas present to myself.

Oh, and the wheel spacers are not permanent. My wheels will be replaced sometime when I get bigger tires.

First trip this past weekend. Love the POWAH! First gear is too low, but cruising was no issue. The exhaust is way too loud and drones a bit, so I'll be replacing it before too long. Without the spare tire under there, I can cram a massive muffler back there.

Next will be removing the lift, fixing the speedometer, and maybe adding a sway bar.

Very cool. But you don't need a big muffler, you just need a proper muffler or resonator. Look up helmholz resonator. Also try to find a turbo muffler, they are quiet but have better flow properties, put one on my 22re and sounds quiet but breiathes way better.
