oh, i have all the tools, i just need a weekend at home (in va) and to borrow my neighbor's welder. i think i'll just do the "modify-the-existing-latch" method, and if that doesn't work too well i'll go to the manufactured ones

Unless you go FJ/heep style and mount them to the A-pillar or Asian style fender mount...

nah, i'll be mounting them to the doors themselves. maryland doesn't need another reason to pull me over...

Sounds like a good idea. And would probably be an easy mount. Still some holes in the top tube, tap the holes, and mount the mirrors

i'm guessing it's marine, from 1991? seems like it seals decent (i'll be getting a new gasket and coat of paint before being put to use)

Nice find on the tank. Those things will last forever if taken care of.

Pretty clean? that thing is pristine!... sweet find... only negative with those kind of cans is you need a funnel and a second pair of hands to hold it to get the boogie juice in the truck's tank...

Never seen those before... what about a relief vent to get air back in the tank? those Jerry's don't seem to have them that I've ever noticed... and transferring with that spout and no vent would be a slow process...
