hahhaa...yeah, I don't know what to do with them now! I use to have two T100 boxes back there but they didn't fit anymore with the MOLE system setup. Any ideas? I was thinking of just putting one in each of those bags I have hanging but then the sound would get muffled out...

One of the bad parts of having a regular cab and not the extra-cab...limited cab storage.

Speakers in the overhead/headliner??

 

I'm not very good with carpentry but back when I had my 86 red Toyota pickup 4x4 I made some custom boxes to tit my speakers in the wierd shape behind the seats. Made the speakers face upward. And left a little bit of room behind the speaker so it holds to lows. It was actually the best thing I was able to do for the sound system considering how much space was limited back there.

 

Don''t want to cut into the headliner at all, and don't want to cut into my door panels. Saw those plastic kick panel pods but they are pricey and take away from the leg room that's already small.

Custom pod box out of wood would work, and fit in that space like you mentioned Richard.

My only other thought is to mount some wood to the back of the bucket seats and then get some 2" spacers and mount them facing the back cab wall? Out of the way, but don't know about sound quality facing the wrong way!

 

Hey Greg, as soon as I find this thread I'm going to pass it to you. Same truck is yours, and the guy basically use the corners and some of the lowest part of the base bend in the rear.... He basically did 4 - 6 inch high quality mini subs. I also want to offer my 6 by 9 boxes if you can use them. You can have them if you want... I've seen two types recently that are very space saving. I'm not sure what you have installed already, but I can highly recommend the Polk 690dxi series if you can still get them. The base from them is incredible and the highs are so clear, midrange is nice as well. With two of those in the rear and possibly components in your door and on the a pillar, I think you could come up with something bad ass! I also have an amp that I would let you have for cheap. I actually have to as soon as I get my 5 channel. I have a four channel and in 800 watt 2 channel. They weren't free but I got a good deal so I would be sure to pass it on to you. I also have one really kickass old school pioneer six by nine three way. TSL 69. I think with the size of your cab you could get away with something minimal. Minimal yet highly powerful

 

Thanks Mark, hopefully it's something that will work. I'll definitely think about your offer on the stereo components. I have VERY little room to work with..... Those are 5 1/4" laying down there. What you see is what I got! hahahaa....oh and the 3" ones in the speaker holes in the dash.

No, that's not it. Its really amazing how hard it is to find space even in my truck with all the mods I've done..... Trying to fit and nice sound system in there without screwing up your gear setup? Total p.i.t.a!

 

Here's some more little things I've done.....

I swear I've been really wanting a front pair of mud flaps from a 1st Gen 4runner, you guys got the nice "TOYOTA" embossed in the rubber. My pickup's were just plain. So a user here was selling a set of all 4 (front and rear), so I bought them just to use the fronts. What happens 2 days later when I go to the yard???!!! I find an 89' runner with the mud flaps! argggghhhh...

Anyhow, a little tip if you want/need to touch up your flaps and keep them looking stock is paint them with Rustoleum Bed Liner! works great! Fills in little imperfections, keeps the flat black look, durable, and the texture mimics the mud flap texture. Highly recommend it if you need to do it.



This is kind of funny, I bought a Subaru WRX shifter knob for my 5-speed camry conversion. The leather WRX knobs are weighted, which makes the shifting a little easier and the weight gives it a little more positive feel into gear when shifting. And besides they look pretty sexy! The problem is I decided to test it out in the truck....and now I gotta buy another one cuz this one is staying in the truck! Subaru's and Toyota's use the same size threading on the shifters.

I think it's still around 17-20%....and the rumor is that the Camry will no longer be made at the Subaru Indiana plant because Subaru needs the plant space because of increasing sales....i presume the WRX is contributing to that, it's a badass vehicle.

Hey, on another note....are you hearing of any rumors about Toyota bringing their 4cyl diesel to the U.S. market? I'm speculating/hoping that because GMC/Chevy is suppose to bring their 4cyl. diesel duramax in the 2016 models of the Canyon and Colorado. If they don't I will definitely be interested in a GMC Canyon Z71 4x4 4cyl. diesel!

 

No word on a diesel but Nissan is going diesel soon. Toyota I think is gonna went till 2016 before any diesel will even be on the table. The CAFE I think it's called is changing again in 2016 and Toyota doesn't want to redo a motor after a year of release.

 

One of my friends had a WRX, they are kick butt. Probably a fun little car to own. I never noticed the 3rd gen truck not having Toyota on the mudflaps. That is the way that it goes though. Once you get something, 10 more pop up when you got it. Those flaps would of never shown up in the yard if had not purchased the others.lol

 

That's what I keep telling myself.... Know of anyone who needs a set of 1st Gen mud flaps?

 

Well, I'm glad I bought the ones from the yard and mounted those up! This is what came in the mail today Didn't expect to have an extra hole in one and an extra rusted bolt and hole through the other My fault though, should've asked for pics, just thought something obvious like that would be mentioned. Luckily the holes are up high where there is no bending, easy fix and cleaning.
