Dropzone's 1994 4runner Build AKA: Project Recycle:

Thanks for the pics. I like the flush mounted bumper on the 2nd truck
Planned on getting a few more things done.
Only thing I did get accomplished before it started dumping was to add an extended harness so I can add a rear/inside mounted window switch.
Need to get the 81 sold and gone so I can get the 4Runner into the garage...

Yep..doing the free or cheap stuff first. ..someday you will see this up north to fix its motivation issues.
Today was a great day to tackle some wiring while wearing shorts and flip flops
My new favorite wiring tool...speeds things up a lot
Crimped and heat shrinked momentary on-off-momentary off switch for the rear window
Rear Aux outlet for a future 12v fridge and dual USB for my rear camera

i remembered doing the switch a long time ago so you got my curiosity going, it was back on page 8. I probably didn't need to do so many jumpers on the the switch but saw a diagram somewhere similar so ended up doing that. 5 years later it is still working fine.

Awesome I was thinking it will be tricky to place switches, etc back there. Seemed theres a good chance the backside will hit a bracket or such.
Gotta start making a build thread so I can document how I've wired stuff up. That would at least be ONE thing that I could find again doing that!

Got a late start to working on the center console so I can get the seats installed down the road.
I scored a tuffy security console out of a samurai years ago. It lived in my old 81 Toyota Trekker for a long time.
Using it and an old rear heat console.
Busted out the POS harbor freight sheet metal brake to bend up some sheet metal.
Got a lot of fine tuning to get it looking good and fitting right but it should come out pretty decent with the triple sticks
a challenge will be finding a place to mount the switches for the rear window and heated seats

Had some time this afternoon to button up the center console install.
Used some 1/8” high temp resistant rubber to make a gasket to cover most of the hole in the transmission tunnel.
Used a 2nd gen rear heat console and the Tuffy Security console I had in my old Trekker
I’ll need to find some interior spray that matches the interior better.
Overall happy with how it came out.
With the console in place I can knock out the seat mounts

Thanks ! Appreciate it. I have some edge trim material on the way to finish off the cut areas
Thanks, wanted to keep it in reach with out having to extend wiring
so when I pounded out the diamond plate rocker panels I used some bedliner material that was supposed to be desert sand. It came out a little too orange for my taste so I ordered a quart of desert sand from Monstaliner- which I should have done the first time around
UPS dropped it off this morning so I thought I would knock it out. I rolled the dice not thinking it was gonna rain, of course it did but I think it had cured enough. Looks way better to me than it did before

I forgot what a pain in the butt it is to swap out the combo switch on the steering column.
old one was acting up before this thing got parked a couple of years ago.
I have wipers and signals again
And since I was working on the interior and got the center console figured out I threw in the seats.
They don’t look half bad
and saw this cool Japanese Fire Truck at Ace Hardware today
its a Hi Ace Diesel 4x4

Nice job on the console and the combo switch!
Speaking of Toyota Fire-Truck... Here's one in my aunt's hometown in the Philippines
Donated by a City of Esashi, Hokkaido (Hiyama), Japan. Most likely a long time ago.

Superfine! The diamond plate looked good to start with, now it's wow. The center console came out very very nice. That combo switch job, not in a hurry to learn that one!

Since I can never make up my mind as far as lighting and had returned a bunch of junk on Amazon I decided to try out some compact Baja Designs S1’s.
took a peak at the mirror mount and figured I could use a longer bolt in one of the 3 mounting bolts sure enough to, they work and don’t stick out too far
Old Run-D LED’s off amazon
Mirror folded in.
I’ll find some rubber grommets at Ace Hardware so I can feed the wiring through the door and route it around the window.
