Dropzone's 1994 4runner Build AKA: Project Recycle:

As far as seats go- Our trucks are built more like compact cars than trucks. I think when I was measuring for my seats, it was something like 4 inches thick for the cushion, right on the floor. Any more and the headroom goes away. When looking for seats, the ones that tend to fit best are from smaller cars- my 93 Mustang seats were about 3 steps away from bolt-in.
It also might help with height to swap the chair rails- using the rails from the truck on the bottom of the new seats. This kept the height down a lot in my setup.

took measurements of the seats in my wife's forester and decided to try a set. When i installed them in the 4Runner it seemed like they would work but didn't have the steering wheel in at the time so that is what led me to a search for another set.
The new seats are in pretty good shape, cleaned up easily and have some lumbar support. I'll probably gut the Forester seats for the heater seat inserts since I know they work, unless someone locally wants them.
I wish i had the stock seat rails from the 4runner seats but they went away several years ago.

So decided to go ahead and pull the heated insert out of the Forester seats
and had to have a little fun with the seat mounted airbags..too bad I couldn't upload a 10 second video but oh well
Also got a smoking deal on a small locking storage drawer And some mounts for a rotopax gas can

Chad - not yet, Budbuilt had the material for the crossmember but not the skid plate so sounds like another couple of weeks or so..and for what Northwest Toys charged me for taking over a half completed conversion I can't really complain since I started this fiasco 2 years ago. I probably would have been money and time ahead if I would have just converted to a 5 speed..but oh well...
Your guys doing OK with the ice and crap?

that's good. Are you still out in FG? My folks live out off 213, even now PGE says it will be another 6-7 days till their power is restored. I was out there 4 out of the last 6 days cleaning stuff up and getting them set up.

So it looks like the 4Runner is getting closer to getting finished. Don told me the Budbuilt crossmember has been delivered. Fingers crossed it will be done soon.
Other news is that I have sold my current roof rack and the drawer unit so I have material inbound to make a wider (42" wide and 84" long) rack and a slightly lower design of drawer unit. The lower drawer unit will be needed to get more room for a 2nd husky we are looking for in a month or so, more practical for day to day use and more headroom for when i finally get this thing on the trail and camping. Happy the person buying the drawers and rack are in the middle of a long project too so they were ok placing a deposit on it.

It's baaaack but with issues... no reverse and needs transmission wiring fixed,
reverse issue my be my valve body or the wiring. The shop worked on it quite a bit. The PITA aspect of this conversion is probably one reason the adapter hasn't been made for a long time.
Knowing this and knowing how far i got in over my head I should have just converted to a 5 speed etc...
Hopefully i can get this figured out and get it going sooner than later.

I wish the 4Runner had a flatter belly like the Tacoma. Disappointing that the fuel tank and transfer case hang low below the frame. Would be nice if they were tucked in = Safer and easier to apply armor.

Who needs reverse? Just pretend it's a motorcycle. Lol.
I'm sure you'll get it figured out. Best of luck and I can't wait to see this back in action.
