Not going to *intentionally* copy that mod!
I will, however, admit it's a pretty handy key holder.

I am glad no one messed with you 4Runner when they had an easy chance!
I have accidentally locked my brother's 1990 Corolla Wagon and left the keys in the ignition..... twice. I guess that is what happens when I have been slow to replace the broken door switch that turns on the "take the keys out of the ignition, you dummy" chime.

played with some wiring today.
been wanting to add some fender mounted turn signals for awhile. Also added some grill mounted LED's like all the cool kids have. Mine have a little twist since the outer LED's double as signals.

Happy New Year, Robb!
Glad the Truck was not stolen. No theft deterrent? I've gotten used to using my multiple kill switches and the Club, they do not bother me anymore.
I have a twin!
Do both your outer grille and fender mounted LED's work as turn signals? How did you wire yours?

I do have a couple of theft deterrents but it was a long day and I hadn't switched them to the correct position so a low life could have had a freebie.
both the side mounted and outer LED'S work as signals. I just tapped the front signal. I figure that power draw even with 3 lamps tied into the same circuit is still below the stock incandescent lamp.
thanks! I wish I could show the video easily like a youtube video
I'll try the Instagram
wierd the link isn't show up. Almost like the site owner's Internet Brands has IG links disabled

I see! Found it on Truck-Lite's website...
Yeah, LED current draw is so little, they can be added to stock circuit without any issue. Also, the lights seem to hyper-flash - meaning the flasher relay is seeing too little current. I'm guessing restoring a bulb on each side to incandescent would eliminate hyper flash.

I also saw a.mod for stock blinker relay by simply snipping a resistor to solve hyper-flash. I saved as pdf. I can send to u if ud like.
Figured out direct link to your blinkers video

thanks Hab! I will be able to dig into it more on Tuesday. Got grandpa duty tomorrow.
cleaned up the transfer cases, dug out parts, painted the crossmember and got a little side tracked.
I like my T-G tube bumper but really like an ARB bumper. But hard to get the missus to go for something that costs about 2x's what I paid for the 4runner.
I have always hated not having a place to stick stuff when working on the 4runner. With the help of a CAD program(Amazon box) I used some scrap aluminum diamond plate, made a fascia piece for each side. Drilled and tapped the bumper for some #8 Allen bolts.

Did a few miscellaneous projects today before I tore into the transfer case
After a few years of using zip ties to mount the license plate and front turn signals figured it was about time to do something a little more refined
Center mounted the license plate with some counter sunk bolts welded on the winch mount
hard mounted the turn signals
when I made version 1.0 of my LED taillights I got a little crazy with clear epoxy and it ended up obstructing some of the LED's.
version 2.0 came out a little better. New one on the left, old on the right
Old
new
Occupation of the garage has begun

Was feeling like crap all day so all I got done was as swapping the stock turn signal flasher for an EP-35. It is LED compatible.
the flasher is sort of a pain to get to. It is mounted under the dash to the left of the steering column.
pulling the HVAC tube out of the way helps get you a little more room
Places will tell you the EP-35 isn't compatible but it was a direct replacement
Eliminated the hyper flash

Been feeling like crap for a couple of days but had to get off my butt and get going on converting the chain drive t/c to gear driven dual cases.
Oh and note to self: next project vehicle is gonna be a manual transmission. I frigging can't stand the smell of ATF
First thing was installing the @radesigns_products triple sticks. Install is straight forward except I fought getting the rear case to go into 4wd. It had been several years since I worked on transfer cases when I remembered about the detent spring. Gave the Allen head bolt a few turns.. now it goes into 4wd/2wd and low/high easily
Pile of parts on one side. Similar pile under the truck
And the diamond plate bumper covers I made a few days ago work great for a drink holder

Add me to the sick list, dangit.
Every time your thread pops up in the new posts, dropzone, I wonder what very interesting thing is happening now. You never disappoint.
ATF is some nasty nasty smelling stuff. It's probably the whole reason I drive a stick.

Finally feeling better so was able to finish the tear down of the A340 transfer case.
One interesting thing I didn't notice until I went to pull the cross member is that the driver side mounts outside the frame rail while the passenger side mounts to the inside of the frame rail.
Found some paint pen marks on the output shaft, makes me wonder if that is from the factory or somebody worked on this thing before.
The last gear section probably weighs was much as the geared dual cases..thinking the truck actually may end up lighter by a few pounds
Anybody need some auto t/c parts? Free just cover shipping
