Thanks A LOT, GUYS! Means a lot....
Yeah, Spearo....I'll get that video in the morning or early afternoon... then I will pray that your buddy and others here don't say, 'YEP, that'll have to be broken down again....something's not right'.... DANG I hate this 'wondering'....but I can't test the chain till it's all back together, running, ya know? grrr, lol. Everything seemed just fine, including tensioner(went to 12# on the dot, just like Tod and Ted suggested), guides(seemed to ride on them like they'd said was ok)..... just that, I know that I hear something, and I can't think of anything other than Chain that could make that noise, ya know?
Anyway, I'll bring that video here tomorrow, brudda,...thanks for the offer!

Looking good Mark, I think that the steel guides are known to be a little more noisey than the plastic ones and would seem to make since to me. Hopefully that is all you are hearing and it's nothing. Heres to NO LEAKS. WOOT!

Thanks, Rob, Lumpy,
Yeah, ....it's up and running, very smoothly,....and I can't see a leak so far, Lumpster.... but I don't like the noise, ......because I CAN'T KNOW it's not going to result in some type of drama. Rob, what do you mean by "known to be noisier"? Actually, let me get out there now that I have a lil break and get some video footage of the noise. Honestly? ....the noise I made in the video toward the end is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It really sounds like the chain running, one link at a time, against the guide. I know it has to wear it's groove into all three, the tensioner, pass. guide and driver guide.... But it seems sporadic, at idle, just like I made the noise.
Oh, and just to save it from being asked, ... Yes, I'm sure that the proper bolt is in the top of the oil pump(if you put a longer one there it pushes on the tensioner and causes noise, etc.)... I had the whole cover in my lap, oil pump on, sealer on that bolt....it didn't even protrude from the threaded sleeve in the back of the cover.

To be honest mine didn't get any noisier when I installed the metal guides...When you put the cam gear back on was it tight? Almost sounds as if the tensioner isn't doing anything.
#1367
Yeah, it's the new tensioner, too! Gawd! lol. Well, I did all the manual tests of the tensioner, while installing it.... it came out and pushed on the chain, then I turned the crank back a bit, then forward to get the chain to get into place..... it seemed to be working. I know the old one was working!
Far as the CAM gear, ....58#'s. Crank pulley, 116#'s.
I'll be out there in a few to do a video. I'll have to do it from inside the CAB, as from right over that air cleaner, it's a bit noisy to pick out anything else, ya know? I'll try both, but you should hear it fine from inside the cab. Keep in mind ....it's NOT SUPER loud, ...but it's clearly there, ya know? I'll make sure it's not the steering pump, etc., too. Pretty sure it's the chain. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....MANCHU, LOL.
Be back, soon.

Outsaneeeeeeeeee? lol.... Anyway, I wanted to try to clear up my issue with the header using a couple new studs, etc., ....and it seems to be cleared up. I mentioned that a couple pages back. Sorry I can't say on the remflex... but I WILL, indeed, use it, if I have to pull the header to have the O2 sensor flange moved up closer to the head from where it is. I'm still curious what you meant by "I had that for a couple weeks"... clarify please? lol. Take care, thanks for stoppin in, bud!

THANKS, Rob! So far so good,...and thankfully, I had all my YotatecHomies to have my back on this one!
Hopefully, Ted of Engnbldr will be stopping in, as I was asking him for advice,....but he also now knows I'm pretty sure I figured it out and it's not the chain...so, he might not, as he's really busy. Just gotta love the "engnbldr fam", ya know? They represent the "really helpful, customer service excellence" we were speaking of here, recently,.....know what I mean?

1/4" to 3/8" is good. I would take it back and buy a different brand. If you have other troubles with another brand then save up and get OEM.

I know, B, ......seriously, even considering my ratio with Murphy's Law.... this kind of record of parts failure has me in more of a POO'EY mode, rather than OOHRAH! hahaha.
Can't wait to see you get those springs in, Bud! I'm seriously thinking of doing a spring upgrade.
I have a question, guys.....
Hmmm, somewhat hard to explain.... Ok, when I come down a driveway, or up, and the "BODY?" is flexing,....I hear a pretty intense 'SQUEEEEEK'... I really don't think it's the Zuk's... It feels almost like it's right under my rump.... would that be more likely to be the 'Torsion Bars'? I've really done nothing to the suspension yet... and it's been doing this for about 2 months, never noticed it before that. Any ideas????????

*It's so clean we can't drive it because it might get dirt on it...*LOL**.
Wish I had me a dime for every email I got about noisy chains that turn out to be pumps, clutch fans, loose flywheels, tailpipes rattling, on and on. Best one was the whiskey bottle half full under the front seat, that one only made the noise when turning left! (True one there although it was a Chevy pickup with a brand new 454 in it.)
Of course once you do fix something, you can't hear the noise it made before but you CAN hear the...other noises that were there before.
Plus of course NOW everyone is listening closely worrying about which bolt they forgot to tighten.
Do like me. Plug in Bob Segar and turn up the volume, all fixed...When something falls off, then fix it....Hey, pretty job there, Chief!..Congrats!!...*EB

All Hail Ted.
I totally agree.....I was much more paranoid after my build.....I don't have a radio anymore either......was catching fire too often. But one morning while warming up my truck to take the kiddo to school my truck was making a horrible racket from the front end and I started looking and listening and touching and it sounded like it was coming from the bottom front.....so I crawled under and when I leaned against the skid plate.....it stopped.....skid plate was slightly loose. PHEWW!
