Sorry to hear about the loss of the 13 year old. So young and can only imagine what that would be like to have to go thru something like that. Will keep you in thoughts and prayers.
You have more patience and determination on working on front wheel drives. When I got out of high school I was gong to be a mechanic, but I seen front wheel drives and the emissions stuff coming and that put an end to that idea. I hear they are not to bad to work on, guess it is like anything else, just have to learn the tricks on them.
I always like to see the black and white photographs of the older days. Seeing how times have changed. To have that many people to show up for a reunion and their age is saying alot for their age. That is probably a high statistic number on that.
Looks like you had a great time with your kid and the grand kid. She is growing quick. Hope things get back to normal around here so I can keep up with what is going on.

Chef - forgive me if this is covered, but could you throw up a pic or 2 of how you are re-filling your tires exactly? I see you bought that clip on tire chuck, but where is your pressure gauge? I've just repaired my superflow MV50 compressor with a new air hose quick connect and I want something different than I currently have, which is an air hose with a non-clip-on chuck on the end of it and no gauge. I just air up the tire more than I think, and then check it with a gauge, letting air out if it's over-filled.

As far as the two wheel drive Honda, I've had more fun working on other things, but all in all it's just a matter of doing things in sequence. Just like anything else, the right tool that can be done fairly quickly. Luckily I have air tools which also helps tremendously to remove cross members and so forth.
Regarding the 63 year high school reunion, it was absolutely unbelievable to me. I had so much fun I can't even tell you, Terry! I'm so honored to be able to speak to people that served so bravely, often in more than one war..... And I always love listening to a life stories. It's also shocking how so many of them were successful. It was a very wholesome up bringing the most of them had, and a totally different time. I'm sure if you drink too much and so forth... But none of them seem to be crazy part of yours through their lives, and they all work very hard and asked for nothing as a handout. Most of all, I was so grateful to see my mom have such a wonderful time, and to be able to facilitate that... It just feels wonderful to be having so many opportunities lately to bring huge smiles and memories of joy to her life in her golden years! I know people often say that its not a prejudice thing, but in the case of my mother it truly is not... She is often thought of by almost everyone that I know is the most wonderful person I've ever met. She truly is an angel on earth!

For some people, that little clip on Chuck without the gauge seems to be fine... I think because my compressor puts out 200 psi @over 4 CFM it seems to tear them(the cheapo clip on chucks with no gauge) up if you're not really careful. I went down to Lowes and picked up A clip on tire filler with gauge and I believe a 10 inch hose attached, and the thing works flawlessly! It seemed to fill the tires a lot faster then that little clip on Chuck from Harbor Freight( you can also buy the ARB version at lowrangeoffroad.com).
I don't mind holding it down because it fills them so fast using my compressor, so I got that Lowes version, which is made by Kobalt, that actually has a lever, but it also has a clip on that works differently then those little round clip ons. I will try to get pictures. I also have a harbor Freight version of the same thing, and it works fine, but it's a bit leaky. Still, it never popped off and its only 11 dollars. I also have two of those little chucks still in the packages as backups. I also have a third air gun that is the type you have to hold on and then it has a gas station type rod that pops up to reveal their pressure. It is fairly accurate even though its from Harbor Freight. I think for the money at something like $17, the Kobalt version has been my best bet so far! And, if I don't want to hold it down for the first 20 - 30 seconds, I can simply rap my little velcro cinch strap on there and that would solve the problem.....

Hey guys, I've been having a hell of a time with certain things on this Honda. Most of the top & very bottom end stuff that I did went pretty smoothly, but the power steering pump and my big fat potato hands didn't seem to cooperate too well. Nown MAINLY?....I cannot seem to budge this darn Crank bolt!

Hey Corey, no worries at all... Well here is my humble opinion:

If the crank bolt is like the Acura integra(and I bet is is) you will need a tool to hold the crank pulley while you put a huge breaker bar(add 6ft of pipe to that) on the bolt. I shattered a craftsman 1/2" drive trying to remove one. Me and my brother-in-law stood on the breaker bar and POW! Bolt broke loose and shattered the breaker head. Also, you could try heat(MAPP gas).

crank bolts are fun on honda's...
1st gear, have some one stand on the brakes with blocks on the tires...
I have cut one down with a grinder...

we have a set of vice grips with a chain jaw put a rubber hose in a pully groove an clamp it tight as ya can so it will turn an then brace against the frame or other non moving object
then a breaker bar with a cheater on it least the crank pulley on the honda from what ive seen isnt like the dodge interpid which requires a special puller the jaw tips thin forged steel not cast

Got it! Guess how? Lol.... Just kidding. RB, I've had that tool from the beginning, the 25 inch breaker bar on the ground stopping it, my neighbors 250 pound 60 gallon compressor home setup that he has, hooked to my 350 pounds air impact wrench... 0! What did work? Three quarter breaker bar with a 12 inch extensions and a 4 foot piece of pipe as a cheater breaker pipe. That along with the Honda crank removal tool I rented the other day, and POPPPPPPP! Either it was rested on or some asshat torqued the thing down w/a 1400 pound air set up and 1 inch impact. I literally stood on this thing, & I am a strong person, and it took all of my weight and leverage around 10 o'clock on the dial to pop this thing loose! ........

Now I'm having a bit of a time getting the cover off, and the main seal is below all the timing components. I cannot get to it without removing all the timing assembly. Piece of crap! I kept going back and forth in the book, it wasn't very clear. But of course, as I read it again, it's clear as day... Hahaha. I guess I'm the ass hat today! Lol. I guess at this point, I'm going to try my best to verify the last time the timing kit was done. Might as well do it.
Also, if anybody with Honda experience can help me on this... Is it common for the dipstick grommet to leak? Because it looks like it's been leaking like a pig... And as I'm pulling the cover off, there is no sign of oil pouring out of there... I may very well have been right in that the steering leak being so severe was running down and into the timing cover. It looks as though, even if they did replace the timing kit, they never replaced the timing cover seal. That is another ass hat move, because when the steering pump for anything of the sort leaks, it will where its way through that seal and then get on to the timing belt which is something that could end up being catastrophic as this is in fact an interference engine.
PS: the next time they go out and by a front-wheel-drive slant engine of any kind, I'm going to give them the number of a good mechanic. This is absolutely a shoe horn fit and I'm going to have to do quite a bit of research if I'm going to do the timing kit. As soon as I can get the top cover of I will know if the cam seals are leaking

I was wondering if you could do the starter trick. My compressor can usually break the 22re crank bolt, but been a few motors that I had to take to a shop and their 3/8th air hose would not break the bolt loose. It took a 1/2 inch air hose to break the bolt loose. Japanese apparently like to torque all of their crank bolts.
Glad to see you got it. I did some work on an escort years ago. The way they had that motor shoe horned in there, you could not get tools in there. I figured out how to use a hole saw in the inner fenders and get to several bolts with a ratchet and extention.

Hey Terry, I hear you man! Its funny, my 429 Cobra Jet had more room! Hahaha... I know, I know, that's a lot bigger engine bay in a Mercury Comet.... But still! Lol.
Anyway guys, it turns out that I had downloaded the wrong manual, which didn't really matter until it came to the timing kit. This is an interference motor, but being a timing belt, the seal is beneath the timing kit ... But, as I got the cover of the bottom of it a bit, I didn't see enough oil or residue or any evidence of slinging and the belt was completely dry... I'm starting to think that is leaking from the dipstick tube and the half moon of the oil pan on the front/driver side. It didn't appear to be leaking anywhere else from the oil pan after I did that job.... But I think my thoughts that it was a cam seal or crank seal were wrong. In a way that's good, but it means I have to pull the pan again.
I installed the new power steering pump and I will bleed it tomorrow... However, I really don't think that the level of leaking that I saw after doing the pan but before doing the steering pump could have been the steering alone. It looks like clean oil...... ...
I'm hoping it is not the main seal, because at that point you might as well do the timing kit, and it seems to be running perfectly with no overheating issues, which I mention because you would obviously do the water pump while doing the rest. The reason I am hoping it's not the crank seal is because not only would I have to do the timing kit, but from everything I've read, when I finally got the proper manual pages: I must first unbolt the motor mount support the engine drop the front crossmember and with the body and allow the motor to drop enough to get even the top portion of the timing cover off.... Not to mention I would also have to remove the alternator and steering again, and I would have to remove valve cover, which I just did! Grrrrrrrr!

My K20 was a PITA as well. Had to use that crank pulley tool as well, but got mine from my local Matco dealer. My 2ft 1/2" drive broke that sucker loose...lots and lots of struggle.

Off subject, Mark have you addressed the higher speed shake/noise you have? Do you have pics of your rear drive line angles? U joints F&R on the driveshaft?

I will get some pics today if I can remember... I'll be out near the truck but I've been so overwhelmed with working on this Honda, I keep forgetting stuff. Send me a text? It doesn't seem to be getting any worse at higher speeds and its not a constant vibration it a 1 vibration for close to a second every other second. In all reality it actually is there in that speed range consistently, it's just that it nearly goes away and comes back and goes away and comes back every second. Kind of like a rolling. I'm thinking about getting that rear shaft into drive shaft masters near me, and just let them take a look see if they say anything obvious. Wouldn't cost much of anything. If not, then I'm looking at the rear end or transfer case bearing roll or gear... Which I'm absolutely dreading the thought of, since they were both just done.
