Yeah it was an 88 or so Cressida. Traffic was really bad for a short period Because of someone broke down.... And as I was pulling up I heard how flipping loud the thing was and could hear the turbos... He told me that it was the twin turbo supra motor and that he was getting around 700 horsepower... He sure had it setup like a sleeper because I never woulda guessed that. Anyway as we took off and he was probably into 4th gear just cruising, he dropped into second gear or something and floored it and he was freaking gone!

I know a guy that is on here who is doing that motor into pre runners down in New Mexico... Just sick! He also does 3rz's. I will very possibly be hitting him up to get a little power house 2.7 in mine one day ,...... built a bit of course. Eric at Yotamasters was telling me about a buddy with a 1st gen 4runner that was running a turbocharged 3rz and the thing was a beast! I still got a lot of life left on my pretty decent powered little 22 re: so it is just a plan for the future at this point. Never know what I'll find over those yards though, right? Hahahahaha.

I have an update that is not the greatest news... Next post

Well, the quick and simple way to put it on this update is this :

Richard informed me today that Ruben would not be doing my SAS. Its just a bit too much for him right now amongst some other things I'm sure... Nothing I can do about it from here but move forward so that is what I will do... I'm working on a solution as quickly as possible.... But since that wasn't the plan I will be sure to contact everyone waiting on parts and make sure that you don't mind continuing to wait a little longer. I'm not sure at this point that I could stomach $2,000 more to yotamasters, and don't get me wrong, he does beautiful work and it's probably worth it, and I would never disparage anyone taking their rig there to get that done..... But I am really hoping to be able to take part in this to the maximum level as possible..., and there has to be another solution,...I just have to keep digging. As far as the couple of options I might have, maybe, I will just hold off on any details on that until I know for sure... I'm not superstitious and I don't believe in luck,... I just don't want to speak before I have any solid info... And while I don't believe in luck, my ratio of "things going my way/crap" hasn't been the greatest in the last couple of years... haha. ..But then again it's been pretty darn good at times as well. Lol... I am kind of bummed but then I know it will all work out in the end.

I look forward to getting it done and getting out there with Richard and Ruben and Chris and whomever the heck else wants to go out there with us as soon as possible! Hehe.

Hey guys,..... THANX, for one! I don't.wanna sound like a biotchimus-maximus..... Just a lil frustrated and caught off guard..... Not sure I came off that way at all... , but just making sure y'all know I'm not giving up, haha.

Picked up the regeared diffs today, and Mr. Jay King has slapped his sig on yet another set of gears! Lol.....

Also the Dirty 30's.... which Eric of YotaMasters was telling me, "Since TG revamped and went to all USA Made Dirty 30's, they are literally just like Longfields"..... Anyway..... BREAK THIS! Lol. ....

If you look in your empty EARLY 80's knuckle ball birfield socket, u will see ridges all around/just behind the trunion bearings....Also around the outer seal..
.. All those ridges have to be at least moderately ground down in order to accommodate the Dirty 30's bell. ( thank you so much to SoCal_85_4runner for explaining all the details of this process). Its not extremely complicated but it takes a lot of patience in order to pull the knuckles, spindles and the axles over and over until, while turning the differential flange, with the knuckle simulating full turn, spindle on, you need to listen very carefully and feel for the bell to be rubbing on the knuckle ball socket ridges behind the trunion journals and outer seal surrounding area ridges .....

I'm going to first have to install the newly geared third member back into the rear axle so that I can move the truck. I also will likely be breaking in the gears tomorrow, well at least the rears anyway. Thank you so much to Jonnyboy, our fire fighting and Toyotaticulitus suffering brethren! Hahahahaha.... I appreciate you sending me all those links John , very much! I find the one where driving on the front with the hubs locked and then unlocked very interesting and making tons of sense!

A trunnion bearing preload thread. Mostly useful for the numbers needed for tension with the fish scale. It's measured without the felts/ball wipers installed, by the way. Don't remember if I mentioned that.

Hopefully that works for you, it's an fj80 knuckle rebuild, but it mostly looks the same.

I will have more of an update later today but not really anything on the installation or fabrication of the SAS. That's not hopeless but I am somewhat dead in the water at this moment. Not sure what to say,... Sorry? Lol... But I will have an update of certain stuff but I'm still doing in preparation......

Well..... I may be stuck a bit right now... But I'm still alive, and there is always something to do, right?

So first, wanted to share I got my tires for the SAS.... I was going to go 33, but I can't seem to find any decent shape & they were almost all a rip off... Then I got a hold of this guy and was at his house the next day to pick up these...

5 of them as a matter of fact.....

Got all five 35x12.50x15 KM1's on Aluminum American Racing Baja Wheels powdercoated black... Under $700... Plenty of tread, and no real rock rash at all...

Test fitted one and they fit perfectly... They came off of a Tacoma, a 2000. Very nice guy, a Red Bull Exec., but also way up in the hills outside of Riverside and I'm guessing was getting messed around quite a bit from what he told me. I was the first person that I actually came out to see them in two weeks! I couldn't believe it! I really don't have the greatest luck with Craigslist but not too bad... But this was just pretty dang good. I think the tires are probably around 1,500 dollars now new and the wheels are probably at 750 for the 5 of them. Anyway, bottom line is it was a good deal, right?... So I put it on, and while the truck is jacked up completely off the ground they are already kinda close and we're pushing the mud flaps backwards! Hahaha... Richard came by and saw them...

Gears for the rear were ready, so I installed them yesterday.....( I smudged the marking compound all up, sorry... But you can still somewhat see the coast and drive side... ).....

***************************************

I have a problem with the brakes cuz the plug on the driver side wheel cylinder was leaking fairly badly..... So badly that the master cylinder reservoir went nearly dry. Fabi was helping pump the brakes while I tried to get at least some fluid to them ... And they did get a little bit stiffer in the pedal but not enough, not even close, and I can't seem to get any fluid to come out of the bleeders . My master front brake line Kem free no problem and I didn't seem to have any hair up in front on the master cylinder... But I'm going to have to get someone again to pump the brakes so that I can crack the rear line on the master cylinder... it was just beginning to round out with the flare wrench , so I stopped right there until I can break loose the cruise control cable address or not and move the cable out of the way.... Since I didn't have someone to hit the pedal for me today,..... I just decided to get the fluid in the rear axle and then spent an hour or so getting the darn shipping stickers off of the bumper... I'm so exhausted that I'm not even sure if I posted this...

4xinnovations.com rear bumper.... One of the if not THE only class 2 rated hitch bumpers in this style... I FREEEGIN LOVE IT!.......

Nice deal on the tires and wheels!! I've heard of a lot of horror stories from CL, but I also now know of three good deals. Yours, mine (the can-back), and my buddy who traded his piece of crap 70's rv for a T-100 (albeit 4 months of BS from two dozen other traders! )

Sorry to hear the welding is going to be a hold up. Something will work out. Looks like a steal on the wheels and tires and the bumper looks great as well. I have about a 50/50 chance on Craigslist. It doesnt always work out but I am still glad it is out there and is great when it does work. Your truck is going to have some major transformations here soon. Keep hanging in there and something will work for you soon.
