Looks like you had a great time. No way am I getting in any water around here. I would freeze my butt off and seeing those pics just makes me jealous of your weather. Drownings can happen quick. I got caught in a whirlpool by a bridge one time and it still scares me at how fast things can change.

Glad to see you got to spend some time with the family. That time doesnt come nearly often enough anymore and goes by quick when it does.

The 2nd Gen cable are so much better.

Trust me when I say, as much as is humanly possible? ..... I AM SO grateful to have had most of 40+ years in the climate I've resided in! PHX wasn't so bad, but just a bit hot in summer for my tastes (for years on end. .... For College it was fine)... East Valley Spokane, WA was beautiful, and the springs and summers? WOW! The rest of the 8 months were fairly though with 12ft snow on the driveway/ice 12" thick to pick ax through for paths. ... But this area, just ask Richard, Grego, RAD or many other Yotatechies who've spent a day up here. .. it's like Another WORLD, climate and beauty-wise, when dealing with most of L.A. ...... I earn my "stay" up here, but I can't "own", so I'm just so very grateful, man! Its 78*F today, blue skies and just a stunning green all around me!

Just a quick note of needs:

1.) Good quality Ignition key lock cyl

2.) 100k on this muffler (maybe time? Seems to be fine)

3.) Fix for the gas tank clearance from strap bolt?

4.) Check readings of a few things in effort to try and solve the hot restart bogging down to 400-500rpm

5.) Order secret plan stuff...... haha

I'll add more 2mrw night after work and dinner

Those are some great condition trucks you have and for the prices, in your area may seem high, but to find one in that condition here or elsewhere in the country, it is fairly reasonable. I always said if I wanted a great condition truck, I would fly to Cali and drive one back. We used to have a guy that had a carlot that bought cars from California and sold them here. Wish he was still around. I think the shipping ran him out of business.

Looking forward to your secret plan. On your hot restart, do you suspect maybe the fuel pump getting weak or fuel filter being clogged?

One of these days I need to look into replacing all of my locks and ignitions. They are a little worn. It is on the list just like everything else is. We all know the list and how it goes. Never ends.

Had this fresh in my mind and spoted this stuff below. Excuse the caps, it's copy and paste.

FUEL PRESSURE–UP SYSTEM
THE FUEL PRESSURE UP SYSTEM CAUSES THE VSV (FOR FUEL PRESSURE UP) TO COME ON FOR HIGH TEMP. STARTS AND FOR ABOUT 120 SECONDS AFTER STARTING IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE FUEL PRESSURE, IMPROVE STARTABILITY AT HIGH TEMPERATURES AND PROVIDE STABLE IDLING. THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU) EVALUATES THE INPUT SIGNALS FROM EACH SENSOR INPUT SIGNALS ((1, 2, 4 AND 12)), OUTPUTS CURRENT TO
TERMINAL FPU AND CONTROLS THE VSV.
--
(1) ENGINE COOLANT TEMP. (WATER TEMP.) SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMP. SENSOR (EFI WATER TEMP. SENSOR) DETECTS THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMP. AND HAS A BUILT–IN THERMISTOR WITH A RESISTANCE WHICH VARIES ACCORDING TO THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMP. (WATER TEMP.) THUS THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMP. (WATER TEMP.) IS INPUT IN THE FORM OF A CONTROL SIGNAL TO
TERMINAL THW OF THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU).

(2) INTAKE AIR TEMP. SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE INTAKE AIR TEMP. SENSOR IS INSTALLED INSIDE THE VOLUME AIR FLOW (AIR FLOW METER) AND DETECTS THE INTAKE AlR TEMP., WHICH IS INPUT AS A CONTROL SIGNAL TO TERMINAL THA OF THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU).

(4) RPM SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION AND ENGINE SPEED ARE DETECTED BY THE PICK–UP COIL INSTALLED INSIDE THE DISTRIBUTOR, AND ARE INPUT AS CONTROL SIGNALS TO TERMINAL NE OF THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU).

(12) ENGINE KNOCK SIGNAL SYSTEM
ENGINE KNOCKING IS DETECTED BY THE KNOCK SENSOR AND INPUT AS A CONTROL SIGNAL TO TERMINAL KNK OF THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU).
FPU VSV Will have ground on pin1 when active, pin2 is B+(12v key on).

So if you have the issue, and no ground on there it's either an intermitten wire problem or one of the sensors isn't getting accurate data to the ECM.

I can't find the correct function for this VSV right now, so I can't recommend between pulling the line or applying vacuum to see if it smooths out.

CO, THANK YOU for chiming in! I've been battling/more like "living with this" for quite some time. Also went through a CAT fast (last motor another person built lasted 5k b4 I had to start over)... Just really wanna solve it.....

Anyhow, I did lots of right up and video on some of the things I've tested, including the VSV for the fuel pressure regulator, bypassing it as Roger off 4crawler did,.... To no avail... I tested other things with in the ER and fuel system, and I've done extensive testing on the ECU itself,... but I haven't really messed with this problem in a while. It just was driving me nuts not being able to pin it down with a good process of elimination. But maybe some fresh perspective, etcetera, might give me some hope of getting rid of this. The coolant temp sensor and factory TOYOTA. The coolant temperature sending unit is original, as is the cold start injector time switch.

I will find the video amongst my youtube channel and a few others that might be related and post them up along with some other specs, etcetera. I have more info to share, but I have to get running back to work here... Thank you very much, I appreciate it, and I will provide, when time allows, whatever results that are requested, or provide the results I've already obtained. Just a quick mention, the fuel pump is almost brand new, the fuel filter is around 14,000 mile old.

I will be getting to the troubleshooting of the "idling down at hot reatarts 'AFTER' being off for several minutes/up to at least a half hour" .....

BUT: I want to deal with my tailgate window intermittent issues/door latch engagement causing it?/constant hot deck lamp and hidden rear window rear located swith addition/new gate windiw seals or at least clips for said seals to start(William, got those clip part #'s?).

I will be adding a Camry rear driver side passenger window motor swap with my original motor/checking for and repairing any bare wires inside the tailgate, afterrr hot wiring the rear window so I can roll it up with the gate open......

Whatcha think? Gotta dig up Terry's hot wire of the rear window/try to find some alternate methods to see if there is a way to just jumper pins in the rear window control module.... then run my second/hidden switch while in there.... ó.Ò hahaha

Didn't dig up the info from Terry's thread. Just a quick glance at the wiring book.

Easypeasy.. Page 61, Pin 6(Blue) on the key switch to ground, Pin 2(Blue-Red) on the front switch to ground. New switch between either one of those switch pin pairs and ground.

Bypasses all the safety mechanisims, well most of em think the wiper retraction switch is still an issue but the wiper needs that to shut off the movement I think.

PS> CO; Which wiring book is this ur speaking of? FSM for my 87? HAYNES? I will get those sussed, wanna have constant hot red mood lighting/night vision Deck lamp.... and the 12V wire from the Dome circuit on the driver side kick panel is already waiting.... Just need to do the under dash hack in like 4crawler and RAD to keep the deck switch up front operational as well.

Also;

Picked up 3 fairly good quality 15" LED strips with stickem for 5$ each, at BigLots.... They are pretty mellow cuz the supplied battery for "try me" was dying... I will 12v em and put up pics.....but bright enough to be practical "strip lights for.......???"..... not sure yet what for. ??? Haha. .. ideas, guys? I'll get pics later.
