Chassis Lube Day:
......OYYYYY! Hahaha....
I'm not 100% sure just yet how helpful, if any, the lubing all the zerks was in regards to the vibration issue.... I still felt it during acceleration in 3rd and 4th... but barely got to 60mph around here.
1. Vibration is low and steady/dull
2. Vibration only occurs under load/accelerating
3. Vibration appeared seemingly ONLY AFTER, right after, doing the OMEmu Spring Swap, which brought me only 1.5"over wut I had with rhe Zuk spring.
When lubing everything, today, I found it very difficult t ro get it to take the grease, even with the GOOD quality Powerbuilt Grease gun. I had to take a pick and cigarrette style brass bottle brushes and clean out all kinds of hardened grease-dirt mixure from around the u joint bearing shafts. The nipple kept rejecting the gun... after cleaning, they oozed out new fresh grease right away! ( IF U HAVEN'T CHECKED/GREASED THEM LATELY....GET ON IT! )
I noticed that there is around 1.5" or so off the slip yoke on the drive shaft that's exposed. As I seem to remember, there has been a bit of the yolk exposed Zuk. I'm not sure what this is, but I did try a little up and down on the u joints and the rears seem to be tight, and the fronts appear to have a little play. I know my popping sound is in the rear and is common with the locker, but I'm curious, now, as it seems to be doing a little more popping since doing the leaf pack modification, swap.
When I rotate the shaft I get at least what seems to be near a quarter of a rotation. To be honest, I know I'm supposed to have a little play, but I can't remember how much is too much. Sorry my brain is just on overload a bit. Lol.
I'm wiped out, going to call it a night, but I would like to figure this out as quickly as possible. I get the feeling that this is nothing to do with the tires. Never know, I could be wrong, but I always treat them well when removing or installing them, and I've had out of balance tires before, this is not the feeling I'm getting. This vibration is a much more rapid rolling, low pitched, almost a hum . I'm really suspecting the pinion angle, and I would appreciate any direction on this as I've never done shams for this or otherwise; altered drive shaft length, etc.

well as we texted try easy first
tires just make sure a weight didnt go flyin
next would be make sure the measurements tween the two wheels front to rear is the same side to side (this is usually not checked unless a 4 wheel alignment is done) make sure your not scrubbing the tires which would bring up a growl
then it gets into pinion angle is it a lot? is it more than the zuk did?
diagnosis go step by step bud

Cyber, I got some yellow shocks I'll trade you...if you don't mind about 60,000 miles already on em and 1 leaking a little...
First look at the full size pics Mark, looks good with that little bit of rake, I think. I agree the vibration you're describing doesn't sound like tires. Trying a pinion shim might be the cheapest, or rather, since you already have the u joints, the easiest thing to try, I'd do that first. Then the joints, then the diff should probably be the last thing since it's the biggest job of the possibilities our tiny minds have come up with.

Hmmmm, HELP! Lol
* I noticed something when doing my leaf swap;
When I pulled off the rubber stop, I noticed the stock leaf pack had a spacer under the center pin nut/below the rubber bump stop piece. Is that a factory axle shim???
Also, the center pin stud threads on the OMEmu packs were buggered, so I shaved off the top portion. I also couldnt get the rubber bump stop to fit with the length of that OMEmu center pin stud that was protruding.... AND NOW, I'm thinking that shim was supposed to go back in there!
BUT I SWEAR, I couldnt find any info on that!
When I pushed up and down on the front u joint in the rear d-shaft, it moved a lil.. ima check the rear most in a few. But please, guys, Amby thoughts on that spacer (or is it a factory shim?????)
(PS> this space does not seem to have any wedge angle to it... getting pics up shortly

based on that linked i8mud thread and your comments on a loose Ujoint it might be that... as for the shim thingy it looks to me like it was there for a reason...
I'll go look under my truck at my custom HD spring pack and see what the shop put back after they took the factory pacs out and get back to you...

Thanx Paul!
I also notice in another thread, u joints, if bad, reveal issues/slop, when rig is lifted, that one didn't notice before.....

Chef,
I will double check, but IIRC, I did not use that shim on my leaf pack. I'll bet it is there from the factory to create more rigidity to keep the u-bolts from walking under load. I didn't even reuse my bump-stops either since they were a rusty mess and gave me less up-travel. So I installed some generic poly bumps from daystar on the frame side bump you removed for your zuks.

I'm going to do a video of all I notice. I WILL NOT take my NOTE 2 Under there, so it will take me a few to use the point and shoot and then load it. I will show rotational play and if any, slip yolk play and u-joint play, if I can. Have to take the ebrake off and block the wheels, from what I've read thus far.

AGAIN: I ALREADY have both front and rear HD U-joints... I just dont know if I equipped to install them myself.

Yeah, William and I were going over this..... He floated me a link to the Rancho PDF.....
But first, I'll just share that I was gifted them by a buddy around 11 Years ago..... notice they're made in the USA? hahaha. Jk, maybe they still are... no clue. Anywhooooo, ..... My buddy's rig was a 3-4" lifted 85 Long Bed 4x4 Pickup.... He removed them before selling the rig. Here's the link for em...(Can't remember the Number they were, but they were 13.75"-21.??" extended......
