By the way, ....if this problem IS a corrosion issue, etc. ......What would a specialist charge to do this? Just curious what they charge to redo-harnessing, etc. I WOULD NOT let them do it, just curious what they charge for something like this.

Chef, stupid question but did you have these issues before the teardown? I dont think your harness would all of sudden break or something to cause a bad connection, unless you pinched a wire or something.

Anyways, I'm rooting for you!!! My engines not gonna be done for a bit so if you get yours running then I can pretend that its mine and get some sort of temporary satisfaction lol.

Hey Joe!

No, I've not drawn any conclusions....but once I delve through the process of elimination, ......

1. Injector is good
2. Have spark
3. Have good compression

....and then I discover no power to the injector? Well, I'm figuring I'd have to go back toward the ECU from there, right? Especially if it's ONE injector. If it was all of them, granted, I'd be looking 'solonoid' or 'efi or circuit open' relay....but bottom line, I don't think I"m getting fuel. Getting this clip off the #2 injector without tearing down some of the intake? HOLY CRAPOLI, ....major PITA! I'm trying with these tiny-long needle pliers, and I've almost got it back enough to SLIP IN A SCREWDRIVER to keep it out, so I can reach in there and pry it back enough to pull it and NOID that dang thing. But, my arms and wrists, not to mention the angle from the step ladder, leaning over? OMGOSH, it's killing me, lol. Had to step back after 30 minutes and check on here, lol.

Good to hear from ya, Joe! And sure, live vicariously through me, I DON'T MIND AT ALL! lol.

Also, Joe,

Being that it's ONE injector not firing.....doesn't it stand to reason that it's wiring or bad connection at the hub-to-injector?

Ok...Sorry I've been gone so long, been working on the house and stuff all weekend. So I got caught up and read the last 4 pages (I'm at work so I have time )

The easiest way to test if you have currant going to the injector is to use a multi-meter. You will have to get one of the old school type with the wire that moves across the window not the LED kind.

this is what you want. The other will not read as quickly as you need it to.

By the way...Good job on the build!!! You'll have her running soon enough...

I'm telling you man, I went thru this same thing. I am willing to bet that if it is the harness it happened when you where wrestling with it to keep it out of the way.

Ooh rahhhhh!!!!

I got the friggen clip off!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case anyone has to do this in the future, here's what I did......

I took a small screwdriver, filed it down to a dull point(didn't wanna damage the grommet if I can help it), rotated the injector clockwise till it was as far as I could get it, then reached up in through the space between the lower intake manifold, ......stuck the pin end of the driver into the corner/bend of the clip-to-harness connector, pried it upward and slipped in another thin-headed-long screwdriver, ....LEAVE THE PRY-DRIVER IN THERE! lol. Now I have to see if I can get it out without forcing the clip to FLYYYYY! LOL. .....

ANOTHER THING, ....BADDDDDDDDDDDD DESIGNNNNNNNNNN, TOYOTA! Putting the open end of the clip on the OTHER SIDE would have benefited mechanics and home-mechanics, alike. Still, I LOVE WHAT YOU DO FOR ME, ...so don't think it's a manic diss! lol.

Thanks, Lumpy!

MAN-0-MAN was that a TOTAL PITA! The Fuel filter looks like a Bread Bag Twist Tie class compared to that! Still, doesn't mean I wont have to pull the intake....but at least, hopefully, I can figure out where my problem is! Good grief! lol.

Questions;

1. How can I just quick test the injector to see if it's clicking with power to it?(I've heard it's 5v's or something, and I don't want to fry it) ....so which side is power and which ground and how to hook it up? I'll look in the manual, but DANG if that thing isn't a catch 22. I mean, I want to BURN IT, at times, ..but it's helped me through a lot! lol

2. How do I test the NOID without being able to see it? they gave me this extention, but I can't see how it will clip to the connector AND noid, allowing me to see it light up while I turn it over? Maybe I'll use a mirror! GRRRRRRRR

jOE.......simple? lol.....

I look at it this way; If the injector's bad, being that it's #2, I'm going to HAVE TO pull the intake. If the wiring is bad, I'm going to have to pull the intake! I LOSE, lol. Nah, it's ok, but DANG if I don't care more about just figuring it out, ya know????

I wouldn't try putting any power to it, I think it is much less than 5 volts.

I had to get my wife to hit the key for me while I watched the noid light.

Rob,

I put in the GM PFI noid, because the Bosch didn't fit, just wanted to fall out. Do I pull the coil wire when doing this? I did, but I'm not sure fuel is delivered when there is no spark, so can't be sure it worked. When I cranked it over, with the noid light in that fit, it didn't light up, but I'm not sure I'm doing it properly. I'ma read the diagram again in the rent a tool-noid.

Try the light on a known working injector...I have never used one. I believe all you do is plug it in. I still vote on the tester.

You plug it in, Lumpy, but do you disconnect the coil wire from the dist.?

Voltage Tester? So, have someone crank the key while I watch the voltage tester? What would I set it to, the tester? DCV 20v? I'm really not too good at this, Lumpy, sorry....need remedial instruction, lol.
