Cali '86 RTE 4Runner rebuild...

I don't recall of you said you were using the stock turbo or not, but I know that smog will fail you for that manifold because of no O.E. number. If you're using an aftermarket turbo, you gotta go to the ref. Ask me how I know.....

Thanks 84_yota_dude! You know, I've been on the fence about doing a manual trans swap. If I do, I'll do it when I get to TX. Which brings me to the next reply...
What's up space-junk & cdd408, I hope all is well. I purchased the GT25R Kit from LCE & yes, like 84_yota_dude said, I'm moving to TX pretty soon so I (thankfully) won't have to deal with the CA smog technicalities like C.A.R.B. #'s and BS like that.
Thanks Co_94_PU, it would be an awesome color scheme for a rally car!

Whats up YOUNGIAM, apparently my 4Runner will be exempt from a smog check because she's 31 years old. Don't get me wrong, I'm not deleting the EGR & catalytic convertor or anything of that nature. I just took this screen shot from the TX DMV website...
I sure did, cdd408! The oil pan too.

Good luck with your move, I for one am happy to be back to the promised land. Testing once a year was a total pain in the ass especially when you have three vehicles, it seemed like I was constantly having to bring one in.....

Oh wow!!! As of 2005 (The date of the thread) only 667 22RTEC's were registered in the US?! That's f'n awesome! So would it be safe to say that less than 1000 1st Gen 4Runner 22RTE's were shipped to the US?

Ok y'all, I need your expertise... I want to replace these two sensors on the thermostat housing. I found the Toyota P/N for the one on the right (Switch, Temperature 89428-28020) but I can't find the Toyota P/N for the one on the left! I can't even figure out what it's for,
Thermostat housing sensors
The sensor on the left: The electrical connection core rotates a bit in the metal body and the sensing tip seems to be damaged because I can feel a wire tip protruding from it.
The sensor on the right has corrosion on the sensing tip that I'm afraid to clean off because it looks like it's already worn down from years of use.

Left is ac cut off, right is fuel pressure up temp (switch, temperature #2)
There were two part numbers for that (#2) for awhile, related to a starting issue they reduced the activation temperature. At some point they changed the temperature on the original part number. This one is available from the dealer, coincidence I put the AC part number into Google and found an aftermarket manufacturer in japan that lists both temp settings for that #2 switch..

I already had the P/N for the one on the right.
Good bulletin info though, I'll verify if that modification was completed by the/a previous owner.
