Sorry to hear about the trans. I had the same thing happen when I first did my swap. I Only had about 100 miles on my 4runner and we were in the process of moving about 5 hrs away from our house, I had the 4runner all loaded up and was pulling this hill on the freeway, when my trans start making all kinds of horrible noises. The only gears that were quiet was 4th and reverse, luckily we were only about 30 miles into the trip and I was able to limp home, lol. Hope you're able to get it fixed with out a big hit to the wallet!

I just got mine drivable again (finally had time to work on it) got the timing chain replaced...I need to post an update on my thread.

So after doing some reading, I decided to pull the valve body and servo out of the trans and see if I could fix me issue.

Well my untrained eye didn't see anything. So I put it back together yesterday hoping something magical happened and it fixed itself. Well that didn't happen and I managed to screw it up even worse. Now I have no movement from the trans at all. Not sure exactly what I did. So now Ill be pulling the trans this evening and taking it someone have it gone thru. Hopefully it doesn't take too long and/or cost to much.

I went and picked up my transmission yesterday afternoon. The guy that worked on it said I had a valve backwards. Hopefully everything works like it should now. Hope to get it installed this evening. I also ordered a new trans dipstick but it wont be here until Friday, so Ill throw that on Friday evening, fill it up with fluid, and test it out.

I didn't get a lot done other than pulling both adapters off the tcase, cleaning them up and putting them back on. I guess the good news is its ready to lift into place as soon as I start working on it again.

Yeah theres always got to be something like that lol.

Well I got the trans finished up Saturday morning and did a little back roading Saturday evening. Felt really good to drive it. I did notice Ive got to do something about the heat coming up thru my floorboards tho lol.

After I got home yesterday, I was checking it over and noticed this...

Those TG spring bushings suck. The shoulders on them actually started splitting even before I had the motor running. Im not really a fan of how there is no sleeve inside the bushing anyways, so I ordered up a set of Davez shackles to replace all that. I think I could have built a set a lot cheaper, but decided to take the easy way out. I think I may go after work sometime this week and try to pick up some square tubing to build a front driveshaft.

pretty sure it is the shackle spacers that do that to them. I could never keep a pair together very long either.

Yeah it sucks. I don't even have a full tank a gas ran thru mine.

Yeah I think the TG spacer being a smaller diameter (looks like it may fit inside the spring end) than the OD of the bushing flange kills it. But I also think a sleeve in between it all would help too.

Well I took the 4Runner out with some jeep friends yesterday and rode some dirt roads and trials. It did great until we was headed back. A splice I made in the fuel line blew apart. I'm not sure if it was heat that cause the rubber to get soft and allow it blow off or what. Had my buddy pull me into a parking lot. Then he took me home to get my truck and trailer.

I'm tempted to run some braided stainless line from the Toyota fuel filter to the 4.3. Or Im gonna redo what I have and out a heat sleeve over it.

Heres a pic I took of the bushing on the front springs. They are completely destroyed now. Still waiting on my davez shackles to come in.

Is there a reason you got all new shackles instead of just new bushings?

Because I wanted shackles made to use a sleeve inside the bushing. I could have built some but wanted to just buy and install lol

Fuel line parts came in yesterday, so I pulled the 4runner back in the shop to start installing it. After looking closely at the fitting I bought to go into the Toyota fuel filter, it seems I ordered the wrong part. So I did some digging and I think I found the right part. Unfortunately it probably wont be here until the middle of next week, and Im flying to California next Wednesday for a friends wedding. Plus I still haven't received Davez shackles. So Im down for a couple more weeks lol.
