Haha... Hates Soap, never thought of it that way, very clever, lol.

Ok, well, ...... pretty much anyone would be guessing, buddy. Have you taken a stethoscope to the oil pump body right behind the harmonic, just to listen for a NASTY KNOCK? Mine was barely holding on by around 1/32'nd of an inch on the cog key, ......never made any noise, just when starting.

Sorry you've had to guess up to this point. If they're responsible for the replacement of the motor, why not just let them take a look, eh?

Thanks chef, I put a stethoscope on it tonight. Oil pump and water pump were all quiet. When I put it on the beginning of the oil pan at the number 1 cylinder the knocking got a lot louder, slid back toward the number 2 3 and 4 cylinder and it was pretty quiet. So I'm thinking its that number 1 cylinder we'll see I guess. Taking it up there in the morning.

Yep, you will see indeed! lol. Sorry, just trying to lax'ya! lol.

Hmmmm, well, sounds like a rod-bearing or rod to me. How much you wanna bet they didn't tighten the connecting rod end-caps, Bo? Not that they'd tell you, ....but maybe, if they just put in the motor(?), they might tell ya what happened? I WANNA KNOW! hahaha.

Best wishes on a QUICK AND SPEEDY return to ya!

Alright! Just talked to the shop. They took the timing cover off and everything looked good there. When they drained the oil they found all kinds of metal shavings from what the guy told me. So Jasper engines has decided to put a whole new motor in for me. and I talked to my buddie up at the shop and since they are gonna have the motor out, they are gonna put my new tranny in for me while they are at it so thankfully everything worked out right. They never did diagnose what was making the knocking sound, but oh well. I'm gettin a new motor fellas

I'm going to the boneyard in the morning. Someone throw me some codes for gear ratios that would be on the door jam. I hear there is a truck out there with 36's on it and I'm hoping it has 5:29's in it. Might snatch the 3rds. Tell me what you think and what I should watch for. Ill have my phone on me so ill be on yotatech to review the thread. Thanks fellas!

Thanks fellas.

I would have searched myself but i was on my blackberry and i figured it would be a little easier just to ask i was lazy and didn't have much signal!!! lol

Unfortunatly i could not get the opportunity to actually go out there myself and look at the 3rd's.
This was the first time id been to this bone yard and they said "For insurance reasons they could not allow anyone into the junk yard...But they would pick and pull the part i needed"
So i left...Although there was a BEAUTIFUL 84 Hunter green toyota pickup with yellow fender flares (John Deere!) and a 3 inch lift and 34 Super swampers out there I wanted to buy the whole dagum thing!!!!!

Anyways...Stopped by the shop today to check out the progress, Friday the fella at the shop called to inform me i needed new motor mounts. So $134.00 later...

They have the motor and transmission out,
The transfer case seperated from the tranny,
And the brand new long block sitting in front of the truck.

So monday hopefully they will get started...All that is left now is just the re-assembly.
I cant freakin wait to have my truck back...
What do yall think...Probably lookin at tuesday before i get my truck back?

Sorry i haven't been writing...Not much to write about when your truck is in the shop for a week straight

Awesome news! Hope you get it quick, ....but from most of the installs I've seen in the last few months, .......Like I said, I HOPE it's by Tuesday for ya! hahaha.

Far as the gears in the yard, .....that's CRAZY, ...they'd be gone before they hit the blocks in every pick-u-part in CA, trust me! LET ALONE after a FULL DAY? HAHAHAHA, not a chance! Hope you find whatcher look'n fer!

Mark

Haha good to hear from you mark.
Surprisingly there isn't a whole lot of demand for Toyota parts here in SC. There were many toyotas out there to be picked from.
Most people around here tend to stick with larger vehicles such as F-150's and Z71's. But I'd rather have my yota I'm thinking about seeing how much they want for that 1st gen down there. I might buy and restore the whole thing it'd be a nice toy if I could get it for the right price.
