I assumed that most know that the 80's don't have provisions for a elocker and that you had to grab the harness from the donor vehicle or make one haha! my apologies I will explain in more detail next time I post.

A lot have been done today. Well a lot of work and a little progress. I've been cleaning nuts, bolts, and other random items. I also stated painting a few things. I got as far as putting the crank shaft and pistons in before called it quits for the day. When I installed the crankshaft and torqued it to 57 ft-lb it will rotate just fine. After installing the the pistons I just could no longer turn the crankshaft by hand I did not torque the rod cap bolts i just tightened them by hand. I have not used plastigage to measure the gap but I'll do that Monday.

I used Ford Red, Aluminum, and a flat black for paint. I don't like the flat black. I may repaint those parts a glossy black.

Just a thought, A locker is probably not gonna increase gas milage. A newer axle may also be a bit wider, which is not gonna help with MPG's either.
If you go to VIN.com you can put your vin into thier decoder and it will tell you what axle ratio you have, when the vehicle was made, just about anything you could want to know.
Tires will make a big diference. Smaller and skinnier will definitly increase MPG's

You are correct and since my machine shop bill came in a little higher I've put off the elocker.

I've torqued the rod cap nuts to 51 ft-lb. and everything is rotating smoothly. Tonight I'll be on page EM-74 of the FSM. I'll be cleaning and installing lots of nuts and bolts as I go.

I also placed an order from 22reperformance.com for: Belts Wires Fuel Filter PCV Hoses Thermostate Air Filter

I've made slow but steady progress tonight.

I've installed the timing chain dampers and tensioner. Do I hand tighten them or do i need to torque them to a specific ft - lb? I also noticed an off color link in the chain. is that significant? There is a dimple on the camshaft sprocket. I assume that is to help mark top dead center. Should that dimple face outward?



Does anyone have a part number for these three double treaded bolts on the cylinder head? I was able to get the ones off the other side but these won't budge so I'll just pick up new ones.



Can anyone identify these two sensors and where they go on the block? I think #1 is a knock sensor and #2 is a temperate sensor.

For the sensors:
#1 is the knock sensor and is installed to the left of the oil filter
#2 is the oil pressure sensor and is installed just below the oil filter

Thank I just finished painting the EFI and TOYOTA parts. They look super nice. I also adjusted my rockers. It going slow, about an hour or so a day. So far the hardest thing has been to find the right bolts. I didn't bag them as well as I thought.

Here is a few pics of the engine mounts off the 22re I just pulled out of my runner

On the left engine mount, it looks like you just need to take out the 2 bolts to your alternator bracket and put the left engine mount over the alternator bracket then reinsert the bolts:



here are a couple of the right engine mount... to me it looks like you are missing a little spacer between the engine block and the mount:



^^^ in this pic you can see the square spacer thats is a molded in part of the engine mount on the bottom bolt, it looks like you should have an additional spacer to match on the bolt hole above...I hope these pics help you out! Again nice work on your rebuild!
