Voodoo556 '92 Runner build - 3.4 swap/1ton SAS
Here is my ongoing looooooong build on a little 4runner.
This started late last year but due to some medical scares with my mom and having to move I didn't have much time to work on it until recently. The months flew by and between work, family, deer season and trying to go to some rodeos & team ropings here and there, not much time to make any progress on this project.
I picked up this 2nd gen 4runner last year.
3.0 had a couple of cylinders with low compression so backed her in the barn and adios 3 slo
Picked up a 3.4 out of a salvaged '00 4runner. Hunted around for a manual trans ecu and engine harness but decided to grab this '98 T100 for cheap as a complete donor vehicle.
I picked up a Dana 70U with discs and 4.10's out of a Ford van.
This summer I got a Chevy Dana 60 kingpin passenger side drop, 4.10's as well.
I decided to put the 3.4 swap on hold and dive into the sas.
So out came the rear Toyota axle
Then the front IFS
Fuel tank removed and cross members cut out
Finally ordered some parts and wheels & tires.
Front: AllPro 4" leaf springs, Sky Manufacturing full width sas shackles, WFO U bolt and plate kit and AllPro shock hoops.
Skys GM master cylinder with adapter.
Rear: AllPro 5" leaf springs, AllPro rear shackles, WFO Leaf hanger, Barnes Offroad perches.
Pro Comp Xtremes 37" on 17"x9" steelies.
Mocked up
Mounted to wheels and rolled the 60 under to see how things were going to line out. Decided to move my front axle forward so I made my front hanger out of 2'x4"x1/4" and frenched it in to keep things low as I can.
Time to start on getting the rear lined out.
Rear is going to end up moving back about 2-3", i think.
Still need to get some shims for the front end to keep my caster 0-3 degrees. From what Ive read this is whats recommended on Dana 60's.
Then steering, move the steering box forward, brakes, fuel tank and reinforce frame with 2x4 box tubing where I cut out all the cross members in the rear.
Today I got the rear leafs hung and hopefully will get the rear axle buttoned up within the next few days.
This has been a long time coming but it is getting fun now!
More pictures to come.
