yo.

so...ummm...we installed Joe's stereo today. not as easy as it should have been...of course...it works..it looks good, that's what counts. thank goodness for the SEARCH and I was able to find an explanation of what wire is what in trying to figure out the hack job that exists inside that dash board.

pics to come.

I did find a curious switch behind the dash above the driver's side fuse box.

Hey, that button/switch/rusty thingy?............ I'ma go look at mine and see if I can't give you an answer(when I can get to my rig).

Just stopping by one of my favorite threads for a pick me up, lol. Yeah... one of those... years. haha.

Take care, Joe, Jerry, ....the lot!

PS> Sorry bout the hack-wiring... I got lucky with this rig(other than the countless mysterious gremlins I've had over 2 years straight, lol).. in regards to the wiring being unmolested. Had 2 of the few rigs I've had with TERRIBLE wiring issues to the point that I had to have a pro yank it all out and re-wire much of the dash(not as ambitious then as I am now, haha).

I almost want to say it's part of the "clutch/start-cancel", but I think it's not... maybe.... kinda, sorta, lol.

not sure....keep looking though.

OK...pic of the stereo

rollbar speakers work very well..pretty impressed. anyways, sounds good, looks good. 1 more thing crossed off the list.

also just got done re-aligning Joe's headlights....the crackhead that had it before had them so they looked like marty feldman.

EDIT....that pic makes his interior look like crap.

I have the same radio; good features for the money. Hard to go wrong with Kenwood. I couldn't get that bezel on, though.

Ok, .... here's a pic of mine.... and I laughed when I looked due to having had replaced one on a buddies rig one time............

Look what's right behind it(toward driver) and get's pushed into it as it's depressed......

Yep, ...Clutch - Start Activation button. Can't start without that pressed in/or clutch-start cancel button depressed on the dash/left side.

actually, that's the bezel that was there. we bought one from EBAY a while back that was not cut, but we would have to cut it if we were going to use that one. this one was already hacked up so we didn't have to do anything to it.....except wedge the stereo in there.

antenna splitter worked well to. now have antenna to his scanner too. it all worked out.

that picture says it all. what a simple design. thanks Mark. and now I know you contorted your body to get that pic....cuz I was all twisted up yesterday doing that stereo and now I am sore.

thanks Mark.

yeh...no clue on the smog stuff. except smog is bad.

had Joe out last night and a bit today driving his truck. much better starting off in 1st gear, now having issues shifting through the gears with dropping the clutch or mashing the gas or and infinite combo of the 2.

also, set up some simulated street curb parking in the driveway and had him pull in and out a million times....1st with my truck, then with his. a little bit of an incline, so he had to back uphill to get in. a bit tricky with his truck. in front was moms truck (don't want to damage), in back was my truck (don't want my pushbar through his tailgate) so it was a VERY good practice. he actually did very well.

just to prove I'm still alive.....

did some putsy stuff last night...changed my oil....then switched to Joe's truck and started to trouble-shoot his windshield sprayer thingys (puppy pissers). could hear the pump getting power but never squirted a thang, found a hole or 3 in the tubing in the area near the charcoal canister. verified that the pump actually worked (yes, i wore the water that sprayed out) and used good old electrical tape to fix the holes. of course, now one jet sprays clear over the truck....any way to fix that? they seem rather "set" in their ways as far as the jets are concerned.

and den.....we mounted up some $10 stick-on LED's I bought. 1 went in the rear area stuck to what houses the supposed wiper motor on his cap...so it can illuminate back there. the 2nd one we used just above the back seats to give Jeff some light back there when he wants it. for $10, very pleased.

had Joe out driving again....much better through the gears than previous times. he's feeling more confident too.

as you can see, nothing too exciting.

You can usually tweak the sprayers with a pick.

they spray fine...really well actually to have one jet clear the entire truck and it the garage door (may be useful for tialgating idiots)

almost seems like the jets need to be turned....his area at about the 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock position on the drivers side versus like a 2 and 8 on my truck and his other sprayer. we have things called splinter forceps at work I could likely get into both holes at the same time, should I assume these things turn?

and so....I made a tool. found a small safety pin and cut it a bit. fit right in. the inner piece of the sprayer moves all around, even though I couldn't actually turn it, but I didn't need to. sprayer is perfectly aimed now.
