just replied to the email from Southwest Speed asking to change my order to 11'' instead of 13''.

at worst, the springs don't do what we want them to and the end up on my truck. other way around if the 13'' are too tall, then they would be useless on Joe's and mine.

well...today is the predicted day that the springs will arrive. as I posted, getting the 5 x 11'' 125lb ones. if all goes as planned, should be rid of the butt sag by the end of the day.

on a side note, rotated the tires on the wife's 4runner yesterday. had attempted the same a few weeks ago and could not get the 1st wheel off. didn't want to hear the standard 'hit it with your purse" reply...but being that I'm sill a noob at a lot of stuff, I waited until I had the time to do it (an find my rubber mallet) and had to smack the hell out of the rims to get them off. good old electrolysis at work here. can't imagine how anyone could change a tire on the side of a road with heels stuck on like these were.

I sanded the areas down removing the frosty stuff and painted the surface with anti-seize stuff.

Glad to see you back around Jerry missed ya. Hope the spring install goes smooth for ya. Sucks about the wheels but sounds like you came up with a good solution for the future.

quick shipping...basically sealed the deal on Monday and got them today.

Joe explaining the process to Jeff

getting ready. 1 last pic of the butt sag

measured about 32 1/2 from the ground to the molding

ready...

even at full droop with the shock off, it was not enough room to fit the spring in so I am not worried about the spring coming out. even had to use the bottle jack to give a few more inches and had to muscle it in because I had no spring compressor.

done....

the difference.....

getting the springs and the shocks seated...

and the finished product

Took it for about a 32mile ride, hit quite a few bumps on purpose and did not hear what I assume had been the bumpstops that we had heard before. sitting empty it only had a 2'' clearance

easy mod....great mod

Ok, so I just measured the truck from hub center to fender and I'm at 20" with helper springs. I think I'm about stock that that's about where you are now I'm assuming. I'm thinking of doing the same mod but I might go with the 11's at 175 because I do haul a lot or maybe do the 13's at 150...Decisions decisions, I guess I'll have to email them and see what they say. Any way enough about me.

It looks a heck of a lot better having a level stance again and I would bet it rides soooooo much better as well.

feels much better knowing it doesn't look like it's dragging it's butt down the road.

125lb rate I was able to compress about 1'' by hand. of course the 5'' meant no cutting so it was very easy.

honestly....for my truck, I would probably do the next size down....10'' or 9'', or the 11'' at the same rate of 125lb.

I'm not afraid of losing a spring because of several reasons:

at full droop with the shocks off I still had to give myself about 2 or 3 more inches with the bottle jack.

still had to compress the spring about another inch to squeeze it in.

with the spring in place, it is entrapped by the upper stop bu about 1 1/2'' and the lower stop by about 2''.

in other words, there's no way it's coming out by accident

Thanks Terry....mostly it was when driving through intersections around here. highway feel was no different and I assume it will be more stable in the curves.

worst part.....the sticker they sent was huge.

wow good job on getting the perfect spring rate and size to even out the truck. looks much better. i did the same no cut/weld with 98 4runner rear coil springs but for the sag and a 2-3 inch lift

Shweeeeeeeeeet! lol. Hey, .... I slapped that sticker on.... it blended in just fine with the other 10 or so on my rear most pass. side top window, lol. But yes.... the "BLACK MAGIC, by Southwest Speed" sticker is bigger than most I get, lol. Besides Marlin's...that one they gave me was 10" or something? Lol. Great advertizing without much cost, right?

Great job, guys.... How did you compress the spring again, Jerry?
