TOYO....ahahahahhaa about the 3 gaskets. I'll pass....for now.
Chef....yeh...the NAPA thing.....I'm kinda beating my head about this AISIN thing....here's the way I see it.....at 2x's the cost for a starter and 1.5x's for the slave.....meh....not worth it for those 2 "external" and easily accessible items (still a PITA but accessible....unlike an oil pump or other stuff).
time frame....no time frame...ASAP is all I can say. with so many large and small sub-projects left, I really have no clue on a time frame. I've p'd away today, not really feeling well for whatever reason....so may or may not get anything done.
oh, don't worry boys, passenger's side has NO ROOM.....driver's side was the easy side....but had to take the engine hook and the top 3 exhaust studs off to get this on. Not sure how much will have to be done on the passenger's side.
EDIT: OK looked again, NAPA is not all that bad. I told you I had myself confused.....hehehehehe

OK...pics of the passenger's side.....I think you may understand now......

thanks man....but opposite.
I'm a lucky father to have sons like I do.....and a wife who not only tolerates us, but also understands the many purposes of doing what we are doing (learning stuff, responsibility, pride, etc etc etc).
so as a father who just about 1 1/2yrs ago started to figure out how to do stuff like this , I HIGHLY recommend it.....even if you don't know what you are doing....as long as you have the humility to ask for help when needed and the perseverance to carry forward and the patience to do a proper job etc etc etc......anyone can do this.
this is truly a worthwhile endeavor on many fronts.

Hello Guys..I still like the looks of a black 4Runner. I agree with you, in the year and a half or so you have made big steps in doing motor work. Its looking good and soon you will get to hear it. Even with the mashed fingers, knuckle busters, broken bolts frustrations, the friends and memories are some of the best.

OK..
just made a list of stuff that needs to be done.....maybe I will update this list as I go along.....probably not.
get a starter and install it
get a slave cylinder and install it (get a flare wrench????)
get back to TDC and install distributor
take off driver's side header, coat with hi-temp RTV and install for good
install passenger's side header
do EGR / Reed valve crap on passenger's side header
remove everything this side of the catalytic converter including O2 sensor
install Thorley connection with O2 sensor to catalytic converter
size-up and trim to fit, all piping between headers and catalytic connector pipe (this oughtta be fun)
get that all good and clamped on perfectly (yup)
flush heater core (oops, meant to do that BEFORE we put the motor in)
install injectors / fuel rails etc etc etc
install intake plenum
vac lines etc etc etc in their correct homes
throttle body...clean up / ???paint / install
throttle cable
install alternator / power steering pump / a/c
torque crankshaft bolt to 181ft/lbs (rent wrench)
belts on
torque transmission / motor mounts
recheck vac lines
spark plugs and wires
add oil
add water
start up / pass out / have Brandon do the timing
run for about 20 minutes....tighten exhaust again / change oil
rev the engine lots of times to hear it growl
do emergency brake front cable
reinstall hood
get inspected
live happily ever after
do ZUK mod
get new-ish front right fender
this ought to keep us busy for a bit

I know I have one, just need to know what size you need. The one I got I think was for the brake lines. Might be the same. Let me know what size and I can give ya a solid answer. You can check the size with a regular wrench. Might be 3/8 / 10mm IIRC. I am gonna be mega busy later this morning till I don't know when. U-Haul Day at my mom's house.
Oh yeah and be prepared to possibly have to replace those lines as well.
