Jerry, I work with those style clamps at work. Well I did anyway, before they laid me off. They are O.K. sometime the "hose clamps" can be a PITA. But they seal pretty darn good. Only thing i the ones at work have a rubber flat style washer o-ring in between the two pieces. Not sure how these exhaust ones work, maybe the faces of the two pieces are ribbed or something like that. You also need to have these welded on.

yeah....i've been reading up on that stuff....2 things I've seen
#1 they are STUPID expensive.....something like $50 per connection times I believe 6 connections equals horsecrap.(JEGs catalog and SUMMIT catalog)
#2 is I've read and re-read this thread https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...xhaust-192629/ and post #272 has me concerned. the fact that we have not taken these headers out of the box yet means that I still have work to do in regards to understanding the whole set-up. EGR connection has me concerned too. late in that thread I DID see a picture of it all connected so I feel a little better. I'm still trying to decide (and this can be figured out later) if the headers should be attached PRIOR to installing the motor or no? sure it will be easier to attach the headers on a stand , but trying to massage the motor in place with added obstacles makes me want to say we should wait and approach that project separately.

I just got through your build and I am super impressed. I can't wait to see this thing come together. I'll try to send some Texas weather your way so you can get to work.
I think it's awesome you are doing it with Joe. I'd love to do this with my son. I've got to fix my own truck first though. It'll be another 13 years until he's driving though, so I've got time.

i have the same headers on my 3.0 and i just reused the old exhaust gaskets. in order to use the oem gasket you need to cut off all the heat shields. not sure if you have tired to fit the oem exhaust gasket to the headers yet

hehehe....yeh, you've got some time.
weather is breaking (although today and tomorrow, not so good), we will be underway very soon again........getting a mental checklist together. went to the store yesterday to buy a steamer but did not realize it was an on-line only item.
well.....not to disregard your words, I'm gonna chance it on this one.......in seeing what it actually is.....I can access it in the future without any issue if it does fail........if it does, I'm sure I will do my OCD shopping and find it.....I'm kinda boring like that.

well.....i'm assuming I got gaskets with the headers.......have not messed with the contents of the box, but looking at another member's thread about he headers , it looks like they are included.......and I have already promised the OEM gaskets to a friend.

if it came with gaskets than you'll be ok, i just seen you got oem replacement header gaskets in one of the pix and wanted to give u a heads up. you can always try to install the headers before installing into truck and see how it goes. not like its gonna take u long to try it. if it doesnt work, it wont take long to remove. i just know it wasnt too fun installing them when engine was in the truck
no worries on the second thing. your right it isnt to hard to get too but if i had know i would have done it when i had it all part a week ago lol
