Thanks!
Tomorrow I'm going to crank the t bars up about 3/4 an inch to try and gain back what I've lost from the addition of bumper, winch and this heavy skid plate...I've probably added about 175 lbs to the front of the truck. Time to use my lifetime allignment from firestone...for the 4th time, I'm gettin my moneys worth outta that

I just got done cranking the torsion bars, I tightened them 4 complete rotations and it lifted me up about 3/4" and put me back to about where I was before I added the bumper, winch, and skid plate...going to get it aligned right now, and then when I get back, I'm gunna be putting this somewhere in the cab...

I can't decide if I want to just regear my stock case to 4.7 or if I want to add a 2.28 and leave mine 2.28. What made you decide to add another 2.28 rather than just gearing your current case?

A couple reasons....first being options, I can have stock low range which you can't have with 4.7's, you're gunna be super low all the time which isn't always best, you also now have a true 2 low with duals...next being duals is slightly lower, 4.7 vs. 5.2...and I knew in the future I'd go with 4.7's in the rear case....and duals is just plain cooler than a 4.7 set, however, about double the price.

I didn't pull it, but I bought it from a guy from on craigslist and it's off an 82, If I'm thinking correctly, top shifts come on 79-83 pickups and behind the turbo 4runners and pickups (which are also 23 spline), there might be more years too. Look to pay around 100-150 for a top shift case

I moved and re-titled it to match the way we name threads in that section since it helps when you're searching for them later.
I can add something like "Project DD/Crawler" on the end if you want.
