Hey shaggy,

I ended up using 3 washers behind the pivot fork to get it to work. I tried just 2 but the fork hit the bell before engaging the release on the clutch. Doing this puts the bearing awfully close to the end of the shaft, the bearing actually has a little bit of play in it when the tranny wasn't installed on the motor. I am betting that it shouldn't be a problem as once the bearing hits the clutch it should be rock hard. It is really closer to the outer limit than I would like. I am not really happy with it the way it is. How much longer is the 5vz bearing? I would like to have a longer unit if possible.

Let me know what you find on the fuel lines. I pulled the fuel inlet line and reshaped it to fit attaching it to the fire wall, however if I can do what your talking about it would look so much nicer.

Awsome find on the fuel hope it works out.

Ok I bought an aluminum radiator and also scored the Flex a lite 398 cyclone fan on ebay. They should be here later next week.

More parts. I hope that this ordering will stop soon. I don't think my wallet will recover from this any time soon.

I need to sell some more parts.

This is the one I ordered. It was a little more expensive than others, but is supposed to made here in the states. I would rather support workers here rather than over seas when possible, even if it costs a little more.

Universal Parts, GM Race Pro radiator 19" x 22". It is supposed to cool better than the imports ones as well. I guess we will see.

It looks like dunkin is having over heating issues, I want to do everything possible to prevent that. If I have to go with hood scoop or hood luvers I will do that, I hope that having a good fan, good rad and such It will be ok. Guess we will see.

I capped off that coolant line. I don't really like it that way. I may take it off and block it off like you have done. I just am ready to drive this thing.

I am supprised I haven't sold some of the old stuff off the 3.0 motor. I had a line of people before that wanted the afm, p/s pump, and such. Nothing now, funny how it comes in spurts like that. I got a kid that needs a minor $7000 surgery as well. The copay had to come out of the money I made off selling the 2000 runner. So I didn't get that to help with parts. But the kids always come first, this is just a truck and I have had several. I will just have to take more time than I originally thought.

I really need to move some parts before I can do much more. I did look at the 5vz throw out. I then went out and compared it to feeling and placement of the fork now. It looks pretty close to the same location as yours does with the 3vz throw out, but I have 3 washers behind the pivot. I am still undecided if I want to drop another 50 on other pilot bearing. I know it will be lots easier to do now rather than later. Guess I just need to do it. Ha its never ending.....

Yes yes it is. Yeah I want to drive my runner so bad. If I could just get my but in gear and finish the wiring I could heat it run and that would give me so much motivation to finish it faster.

I have a few more things I need to get before I can send it down to get the wiring done. I have the funds for the wiring, but not the other things I need. I can't do the wiring until these get done first. Yeah then there is the exhaust. That is gong to be a biggie.

My harness is pretty much all set up all I have to do is splice them together. But that home motivation thing comes in to play again. I must say I much rather like to do the fab work and mechanical sore of the swap more.

well, been busy, but not much with the 4runner. I am in the process of moving my job from travel to desk only. Excited about that, but I am loosing my company vehicle. I have a 4runner that has an engine sitting on the stand. What to do you ask. Well buy another 4runner of course.

This is what I got

94 3.0 auto wish it was a 5 spd. Only has 158,000 original miles on it. It is in descent shape. It does have a leaky rear main seal. I will need to get that taken care of soon. Runs great, oil pressure is a little lower than I like, I may end up changing the oil pump. Leaky rear main may be part of the pressure issue. I need to change that and Find out.

It has rear spring spacers on it, longer shocks, cranked T bars up front. 305x70x16 Toyo MT's (33") with about 60% on them on landcruiser wheels. It has a new set of warn manuel hubs up front, new lockers front and rear WOW, couldnt believe it my self. I am stocked about that. HID head lights, hella off road lights. It also has the Ford Tarus fan converion as well. Over all in descent shape on the body, has a few small kisses but not very bad. Interior is dirty but all there and the front buckets are in great shape.

Now onto the 1uz. I had an issue with the motor mounts and am redoing them. I want them perfect and professional looking. You all will be impressed with them once I get them done again (sigh). They will bolt up to the factory V6 mount and are stout units. I want them bolt up so anybody can put one of these motors in without having to weld.

I will get better pics tomorrow for everybody to look at.

I'm gonna redo my mounts when everything is said and done and tried tested and true. Don't want the notches to be a permanent thing don't want to have to readjust it every time it comes in an out of the truck. I'm gonna get that radiator as well today in fact. I'm going to order the clutch as well. I called performance radiator on the one dunkin got but right now 280 is a little rich for my blood. And I really wanted a cross flow anyways. Think it will work better on this engine.

Ok I got the mounts done. I think everybody will be impressed. I will post pics tonight when i get home.

Ok Here we go, sorry the pictures are kinda blurry. I was in a hurry. It was alot of weird angles as each peice is a different lenght. It looks odd, but should fit better than factory and be stout enough to take anything.

And some more of the other 4runner I am using as my commuter. After driving it for a while I have noticed that on a cold start up there is a little crank or rod noise. Goes away after about 5 seconds, but alas it is there. I hope that I get this 1uz done soon. We will see how much worse the noise makes. I may end up parting this other rig out now as well. I need to pull the factory 4:88's that have lockers front and rear and replace them with my 4:88's. Either way this rig has lots of cool parts that will save me alot of money for my rig.

Ok, making some progress. I got the tranny bolted to the cross member with some modifiying and using part of the Downey plate. I will take pics of that. I ended up using a drive line out of a 4runner with an automatic tranny in it. The drive line that came out of this 4runner with the 5 speed was too long and I couldn't get it back on. Motor is sitting on its own. I need to finish hooking up the coolant lines and exhaust system done. Then it is off to get the wiring done. I will take some pics soon....

I need to figure out how to hook up the rear heater. If anybody has any good photo's of how they did it, please send them my way or the link.

Thanks

How did u run your accelerator cable. The rear heater is what I was looking at today. I may just delet it. It really dose not have any functionality I think. Other then to worn your right hand when driving.

I have been playing around with it, and may just end up using a Lexus cable. The factory toy cable is just plain long.

That's what I did. I was just asking to see how you did it. No one really has anything on here bout what they did. All you gotta do is make the hole in the fire wall a little bigger and flip the sealing peace around and cut the 2 side tabs off the plate that the bolts go through.
