Very clean looking 4Runner.

What is the radius in inches?

They measure about 34.75" tall and 12.25" wide.

Thanks for the compliment

Nice, what gears did you pair with those?

They are paired to 4.88 gears. The 1uz has enough horse power that it was either go larger on tires or go 4.56 gears. I figured bigger tires were better then regear for smaller tires.

It seems counter intuitive but this should help my mpg's as it was turning 3000 rpms at 60. It is now turning about 2500 at 60 now.

So say when my swap is done and I used 5.29's again I should roll on 37's?

My rubber will need replacing by then anyway. .

I think you would be fine rolling 37's with 5.29's after the engine swap.

I also picked up a 2001 taco that I have started parting out. Going to be pulling the rear 3rd member that has the locker in it and retrofitting it to the 4runner. Yay rear locker, about time!!!

For how much did you score the Tacoma? Was it running? Write off from an auction?

I plan on getting funds for my build the same way.

I got it for what just the rear diff cost would have cost me. I actually got it from the guy who did some concrete work for me. He was talking about getting a new truck next year and saw that I bought and sold Toyota's, wanted to know if I would be interested in it when he got ready to sell. I said yeah when he was ready. He called me about 2 weeks after he had finished the job for me and asked it I would be interested in the truck but that he had wrecked it. He had no insurance for this type of accident. Since he wasn't going to fix it he pretty much gave it to me and went out and got himself a new truck.

It runs and drives perfect aside from a bent frame. Now I just need to sell the 3RZ engine and the rest of the drive train off it so I can buy all the SAS parts I need for the Zrunner

I am half tempted to find another rig with a blown 3.0 and transplant the 3RZ into it and then sell that. These little 3RZ motors are pretty amazing engines.

What engine was in it? Any other useful parts for yourself?

So it has the 3RZ 4cyl engine. I almost wish I had found this before I did the 1UZ swap. It puts out 150 horse from this 4cyl motor which is the same as the old 3.0 motor, but it weights a lot less and gets about 20 mpg. You can super charge this little thing with a TRD charger too! Not as cool sounding as the 1UZ but I would have looked at it as an alternative.

Other then the rear locker, there isn't really anything else I needed from the truck. So I am selling the rest of it off.

Sounds like a great engine to stick in something else to flip for money.

It is an awsome engine. I actually have it listed in the vehicles parting out section for sale with the rest of the truck. If it dosent sell I will build a buggie and put it in that.

So I have started building an 84 front axle and have it all tore down and getting ready for the build up. Marlin Crawler truss's for the balls and shock mounts. I also have a sky manufacturing Toyota logo top truss getting ready to install. Next up is to order Bobby longfields and hub gears to match. Finally install some 4.88's.

When I did my 1uz swap I installed an LS400 engine with the front sump pan this isn't well situated for a SAS. You have to have the front sump for IFS but a center or rear sump if going in a solid axle rig. I couldn't find a core motor so I bought a complete good running engine and have removed the sump, lower housing, pan, pickup tube, and dip stick. I guess I will install the injectors from the SC into my motor as well.

Now I have a virtually complete 1uz as an extra motor. Thinking about piecing it out and selling the parts off of it.

Anywho pics of the work as of recent.

Here is a recent update. I added a neoprene winch cover for the xd9000i's synthetic line. I also added a Yakima roof rack, alpine speakers thru out.

Engine parts are sitting on the work bench now and waiting for parts cleaner so I can make them look new before installing them. I have also stripped the front axle and getting ready for the build as soon as the gear sets get here.

Contemplating selling this for an 01 thru 04 double cab Tacoma. Don't know if I can actually pull the trigger and see this thing leave, especially since I have put some much time and money into it plus the sentimental value it has.

Update....

Picked up an r151 unit complete. Bell housing to the transfercase. Thinking about pulling the tcase off and mating it to the r150. May rebuild the whole thing, I don't know which way to go.

I also got a box in the mail with my Yukon 4.88 gears, rebuild kit, 5 drilled flange too. Time to install

I wanted to let everybody who is looking for an easier way to get this motor into your V6 truck or 4Runner. I have started producing the items I needed to get mine done.

Motor mounts. These are custom built motor mounts that will allow you to use the stock perches that came on your V6 rig. These will require that a 1" body lift be used. The mounts come in raw form and are ready to have your pads installed and placed on your motor. $250

Aluminum 6061 T6 body lift. I have a milling machine and can cut these to any size you wish, all the way down to the millimeter. Price for the 1" body lift blocks and necessary hardward to put this on your rig starts at $130

We are in the process of finishing a steel 3/8" flat belly skid plate crossmember that will allow you to have a heavy duty skid plate replacing the modified stock stamped steel unit needed when running this engine and the 5 speed transmission combination . Price TBD

Nice one. I've been searching Craigslist and noticed that a 1UZ Lexus sedan sells for far less than a 3.4 equipped rig.

I may have found my engine choice. Do you do swaps for customers?

I have built a couple of rigs for people. If you interested, let me know. I would tell you that most people want parts as its cost prohibitive to drive a rig to me from where ever they live. If you wanted to bring your rig here and want it built I would be happy to talk with you about it.
