I enjopyed talking to you. I wasnt able to get out in the shop yesterday as it was to cold, so wound up taking care of house projects. You will eventually get your truck to where you want it . Just keep chopping away and one day it will be done.

I thought I would be able to help you having an 86 22re or a 79 22r. I learned something. Toyota made some changes in them too. Sorry wasnt able to help.

My 79 has 3 green round plugs and the rest are more square/rectangular. I wasnt ble to find the same wires you had on my 86.

These are Clear and Green in color.

Just seeing how things are going for you. Hoping your shackles and radiator are working out for you.

thanks for checking in terry, gonna possibly put the rad in today, but as for an update, i stayed up till 2 am last night finishing the wiring, and finishing shackles. got my lighter wired up, stereo wired up, cb wired up, door speakers installed, lights in front wired up, aluminum center for the steering wheel instead of a broken horn button, and the tach wired up.

thanks chef, went out and started the radiator swap but after getting the new one in i figure out that i would need an electric fan (had one but i literelly just sold it yesterday) and my bottom hose hits a steering box bolt. on the other hand i locked my keys in the truck, and made a hood to unlock it and in that process i fixed the door so it now opens from teh inside

Hahaha... hey, it happens... Good thing it turned into a solution, right? lol. You going to grab a molded hose? Or does it hit the box right off the bat?

This is a new Radiator, correct? If so, is it returnable? Let me explain.... Toyota made 2 types of Radiators.... One, like mine, has the Lower Hose outlet 4" toward to the center. It's a bit pricier as it's not easy to find, but it's supposedly a "Trailer Package" radiator(???? not sure, lol). I could get you a pic, but I'm sure I have one(on accident most likely< lol) already in my photobucket.... Lemme look and see what you think.......... Yeah?

The "corner outlet" radiators are pretty close to things... So, when you add cores, etc., it can mean issues.

Maybe there's a way that someone you know(a welder/radiator shop) could remove the bottom 'cap' and move the outlet over a bit.....??????? I've never once had an overheating issue in any of my 7 toyota's.... WHEN they had a healthy/clean radiator. (Ok, when my HG blew on one I did, ...but that doesn't count! lol).

I'm not trying to discourage you from making it work, just to make that clear, bud, k? I just KNOW what fits, lol.... And I know that you're trying to do this within a reasonable/frugal budget(best quality for best price).... But; You're going to have to add an E-fan, for 'space allowed' issues? Ok, so, you've probably done some research, you know how you want to wire the e-fan in, properly(???),....but you're still trying to figure out a way to make this 4.0 Ford Radiator 'FIT', right?

I'd like to do that e-fan mod, some day... just have many more things I'd rather do, first(if I can find time! lol) If you do end up doing the e-fan right now.... DO YOUR RESEARCH, ya know? Ian did a really nice/clean job of it. I know many guys use the Taurus E-fan Mod.(???)

If I was going to be INSISTENT that "I make this Ford Radiator work".... E-fan and all... I'd start by dropping it off at a radiator shop and ask them to move that outlet pipe over(if that's possible/would work).

I think you're making a wise choice... But that's just me. Nothing wrong with upgrading a part like that though, you just got 'off' on the 'fitment' portion, that's all. GOTTA be some guy at the Toyota place that knows a Ranger buff, no? Maybe a trade in? Either way, you should not have a problem selling it on CL, right?

What made you change your mind, Bud?
