1986 4Runner 3.4 Supercharged IFS
Hello yotatech;
This is my first post, and it's a bit overdue. I recently bought a modified 1986 4Runner. The PO had a lot of work done, although undocumented, he owned the runner for ~20 years. Although I believe I got a good deal, I'm quickly finding plenty of needed repairs. I have never really been a car guy but I do have military & commercial experience working on robotics so turning a wrench is 2nd nature. I'm an electrical engineer with mechanical CAD design experience.
Asking price: $8900. Paid:$6900.
Originally a 22RE manual deluxe ifs 4Runner
Mods: 3.4l swap from 1998 4Runner w/ auto transmission. TRD gen 2 supercharge. Headers, intake, high flow cat. Generic long travel with Kings up front/t100 axel. 32" Baja tires on aftermarket aluminum rims. Fiberglass hood with molded scoop. Fiberglass fenders. TG bumpers with warren xc8000 winch. Botched sr5 gauge swap. Cheapish but nice paint job
Reduced price because of sloppy steering, clunk in drivetrain, and needed smog
First thing I did was contact a local Toyota expert. I'm lucky enough to live close to Nate from Blazeland and he talked to me for a few hours, explaining some 'features' (problems) with my rig. Blazeland is great and Nate has a tone of knowledge... And a nice collection of 1st gen Toyotas. I left with a better understanding of my rig and a nice pair of tie rod connection bar things!
