Ah... yes. That'd be me. I had a 300 a while back. Sold it a couple years back to consolidate and ended up with a toyota and a honda commuter. So much for consolidating.
My mechanical and auto knowledge has come a LONG way since that forum. ha ha.

I should have the tranny back in around the end of the week/weekend. I'm just waiting on a "c" clip from toyota that should be in tomorrow and then I have to simply put the cases for the tranny back together and seal them all up and wait for the fpig to dry for 24 hrs before putting oil in it.

I knew what I was buying, somewhat. If I did it again, I probably would have gone with a later 4runner (v6) and done the sfa conversion. You will probably see with the additional work that has been done as the thread gets updated more.
The hybrid is ok. If you want to do it right (I purchased mine already built, found it on craigs) then it will take more $$ and time. You would want domed pistons and notched for a cam with high lift and likely better fuel delivery system and cam degree setup (I have one of those) to get it all dialed in if the head/deck have been shaved. Personally, I don't think mine was worth it. It is pretty much a 20r slapped on top of a 22r block (stock pistons) and a "performance" cam, headers, and a weber 32/36. I'm not impressed at all. I will be swapping in a 3.4 likely. That is why I said I would have gone with the v6 because I think the 3.4 swaps in MUCH easier with the 3.0 v6 trucks. It also comes with the wider rear axle as well, which I picked up too. If you wanted to keep modest and stick with the mileage and "stock" feel then I would go 22re, 100%. Then maybe a couple light mods and electric fan.

Tranny rebuild of the w56 top shift with marlin's kit has been finished and installed. I tested it this evening with some cheapo oil from wally world 80w-90 gear oil gl-5 for the first 500 miles or so and then I will change it all out for the good stuff. If you want to check out the re-build thread of the tranny, you can view it here:

I will try and get more pics off of my phone and get this thread caught up to current over the next couple days. I think everyone will enjoy the projects to come on this build.

hahaha....
westjohns yota: just curious, what kind of mileage are you getting with the 86 longbed (22re with 36's)? Also what frame height are you sitting at? Referring to the part of the frame next beneath the doors?
Sorry for all the questions, you sig just has so many interesting things in it. ha ha. How do you like the LS1? I love that engine, I have done a TON of research on the LS1/LS2 series and would love to put one in a rig. Really such a masterpiece in my opinion.

who hasn't seen a 22r? lol. here's another. It is a hybrid, but same thing pretty much.
degreeing in the cam was degreeing in a LC cam, but they listed the specs incorrectly so I was chasing ghosts with this one. I sent the cam back. They reluctantly accepted the return and refund. They only paid for half the shipping costs. Like it was my fault they listed the item incorrectly. Ended up having to pull the head and replace the HG b/c the seal broke when remove the old cam. Waste of time IMO. Put the old cam back it an degreed it back up:

picked these up from a guy for a good price. Practically full tread on steely chromes. Not really my first choice of wheel, but whatever. They are 33x12.5x15
