Good info Terry.

It still amazes me every time with the differences in all these trucks and harnesses. I was just telling one of the students last week about hos many of these trucks I have owned, and not a single one was the same or had the same features as the next. Crazy

Hello Mark...I got bit by the Toyota Changing Plugs Syndrome again. There is a third style of plug that I had not caught on to. It looks just like the mini pin plug but is a bit larger, Urgh!!!

Thanks Jason.. The brown or tan interior will look so much better then the gray. Appreciate it. We get a chance we can meet up some time and do a parts swap.

Hello Chris... I have not been able to find an inclinometer, those are hard to come by. I eventually will find one, just have to be patient. I am about to give up on dash pads. I have had 2 perfect dash pads in my runner and last winter one cracked 4 inches over nite. I seen yesterday my 86 has a hairline crack in one area and you can see with just the right angle an light, the foam has separated under the vinyl and it is just a matter of time before the vinyl cracks. I am going to start looking at those overlays on ebay.

I was able to go to the bone yard but wasn't able to stay as long as I would of liked. I did score an SR5 Main Harness for my truck. It came off of a rusty, beat up, truck that had some panels cut off of it. This is one of the most loaded trucks I have ever seen. It had the sun roof in it.

The Main Harness I got has the following factory options.

Cruise Control ( I wont hook it up)
Map Light
Glove Box Light
Electric Antenna
Electric Door Locks
Lights in Doors
Electric Mirrors
Wiper Delay
Head Light Reminder
Door Reminder ( I think it is what it is)
Low Level Fuel Light

I am sure there is something I missed. I just need to replace a blinker plug. The only problem I have run into so far is the fuel/tail light harness is a different plug. I will need to go back and get it in a few weeks. I should of grabbed it today but the ground was wet and I was running out of time. In the mean time, I will try to just hook up the fuel pump so hopefully I can just get the truck to move under its own power. I also grabbed the head light/fuse box harness. I am sure I have an 86 Injector harness so maybe I am done swapping harnesses. This one looks to be great. I can start assembling the dash now.

One loaded SR5 harness. I will eventually add some of the features at a later time. Just want to get the basics and get it running.

I was able to grab a tail gate panel. It was rough looking but a little hammer and dolly and some sanding has it looking ten times better. Once I get it painted it will look better. Later on I am going to get a roll in or spray in bed liner and then paint over that and it will hide any imperfections. One more piece to getting it closer to assembled.

I was working on getting this piece sanded and let Hunter work on getting some farm pieces ready for paint and he is getting the sanding part down real well. He helped save some time.

Hello Cyberhorn.. After thinking about this harness and with it being an 85, solid axle, fuel injected, I am thinking of trying to get all of the features working in the long run. have the possibilty of having a unique truck if all was to come togheter as planned. It will take some time to get all of the features working. The door panels which are the hardest one to find was laying in the back of the truck and got ruined. That was a shame. It will take a while to find all of the switches for the mirrors and such but I am really thinking of trying to go full blown on the SR5 thing.

I have been cleaning and installing the power steering resivoir, harness, AFM, and coil. Starting to look like a engine bay again. Also got some second gen door pockets to install at a later time.

I should of grabbed the fuel/tail light harness out of the donor truck in Springfield but the ground was wet. Luckily the Joplin salvage has a two wheel drive camper and the fuel harness will work to get it to move under its own power. I will eventually go back and get the harness. Also when I was there I only had one hour to grab as many parts as I could. It was Friday and he was closing early.

Did get a few things in. I have several different things going on so wanted to get something done.

I disabled my door buzzer. I have shown this in the past. Some remove the buzzer box and then the dome light wont work. I just bend the tab back to keep it quite.

Here is the Speed Control Box. I dont have all of the parts needed to make it work but it is a start.

Installs below fuse box.

Got the Blower Box cleaned and installed. One of the toughest trouble shooting I have done is on this resistor. There are 3 and 4 pronged resistors. I will need to order a 4 prong resistor later.

You have to have the Glove Box Light option installed in the main harness. The bulb is on top and the bottom bracket has a tab weled to it to control the light. A new part I will be keeping an eye out for when in the yards.

Hello Chris..I need to get back on the shop again. I still need to go get my wood heater and that one is going to bite if I dont get it done. We are having a cold spell for a day but the cold days are coming. I am going to try to get something done in the shop this week as we are going to warm back up next week.

I did get some time to get the shop organized again by getting some of the parts back on the truck. I got most of the dash back in. I did a few electrical checks and so far so good. I will eventually get the interior tan but now I want it to look descent, find what parts are missing as I am having to assemble the whole interior from what was in it before.

Getting the headliner in with the window seals is a real pain in the rear. It looks better in person. As of now I have about $100 into the interior. I will have another $100 for carpet and hopefully about $25 for each seat that I will eventually put in. Trucks are easy to make the interiors look great in. To bad this one will be turned to tan but from what was in this truck when I got it, it is 10 times better.

Got most of the fuel system on. I painted the intake manifold to silver. I will do the plenum tonight so as I can try to get it running. I need to get some antifreeze in it.

I got some small guage wire on temporarily for the positive and negative cables to run elelctric test. I will need to get larger gauge wire and get it permanently mounted.

I have been working on my 3rd gen lately and it is taking up the funds for my 85. I have been doing some small detail work on the 85 when I get the chance. Been busy with work and a few other things.

I did pull a goof butt move. My check engine light wasnt working so I looked and there was no bulb in the cluster gauge. After putting in the bulb I still did not have a check engine light, so I started checking some things out and finally I thought I would check the connections on the computer. That was the problem. I had removed the computer and it wasnt even hooked up at all. I actually had the computer in the bed of the truck. Doh!!! Once I installed the computer, Wah laa!! the truck fired up. Wahoo!!! I finally have a great working harness and should have all the options working soon. Still a long ways to go but it is a big hurdle crossed.

Running!!! 12 second video.
