New to the forum. I've found lost of useful information working on my truck so I figured it was time to share the progress.

I started with a beach truck. 82 pickup with lots of rust and a motor that was fogging for mosquetos.
Striped the truck down and built the engine, cleaned and painted the frame and found a 98%rust free 1981 cab to put on it. Still want to build a flat bed but she's a work in progress.

Thanks! It's been about 2 months since I painted the cab and there is already a few rust spots poking up...these things are made out of some rust prone metal...I've never seen anything rot this this. I plan to strip the paint off the cab and do a cold zinc primer next go around

 

That's a great plan. Then if you have access to one, an autoclave for an hour or two would be best before epoxy. You'll be surprised how much moisture comes out of that metal when heated evenly

 

Never even heard of an autoclave so I would say I don't have access haha!.

At first I didn't care for them but I cleaned them up and added some flat black and they are growing on me.

 

Took her fishing this morning...pulled think I need a gear swap if I'm going to be pulling the boat alot

 

I like seeing the transformation your truck has gone thru. It is looking better. Great job.

Project Update,
i got the A/C working this weekend. Originally planned not to mess with it but I'm glad I did. The truck had all the origional A/C parts and the compressor appeared to be functional. So I changed all the Orings and converted it to R134a and she blows cold!. All it cost me was a $20 vaccum pump from harbor freight, $30 worth of Freon, and a few $ worth of orings and 134a converters. Been working for 3 days now so it looks like a success so far.

 

Great job on that truck. And A/C. I'm jealous.

 

The AC is nice i just hope it stays working. AC parts are hard to find and they are pricey. I just need a bed!
Im going to shoot for something like this however i dont have a tubing bender so it will be box tubing and angle cuts.

 

Awesome you got the ac goin man. Summer is coming quick. It's supposed to be 96 here tomorrow. Also looks like a good solution to an old problem with the bed
