Tie Road ball joint boot repair/replacement

Hi folks, New member here from T4R. did a search but came up short.

BLUF: I installed new coilovers on the 4runner (16' TE) and tore the tie rod end ball joint boots open removal (think this is inevitable with a ball joint fork.

Anyhow, the tie rod looks as if it may be two pieces where at threads in the middle to adjust the TOE of the wheel alignment. Would it be possible to just replace the outer portion of the tie-rod, or better yet, replace the boot? Don't want to have to pay/replace a whole tie rod when just the boot is damaged.

Thanks.

How many miles, hom long has it been torn, has contaminants gotten in.

I stopped using a pickle fork years ago for this reason.

It's only got about 4200 miles on it, but the damage happened yesterday. So about 20 miles, maybe, on the damaged tie rod/ball joint boots.

Thanks. that's what I am thinking too. Just looking for reliable reboot solution. The boots on the tieroad end joint seem to be "permanently" mounted with some type of washer/fitting. there seem to be some solid universal fitment applications thru Autozone.
