SERVICE now thats what I'm talling about. I ordered my kit from Mike (4x4jedi) friday morning. It was sitting on my desk today (monday) after I came in from lunch. The kit looks great (complete with bow) well built! Now as soon as the cover from winrock gets here, we are going topless!!!
thanks for the unbelievably quick turn around

dajabr - Looked through your pics...I like how you stored the top to let the rear passengers get some sun! Great idea!! Now if only I had a sunroof...might come up w/ something else...hmmmmm. Hope you don't mind me barrowing the idea.
I was thinking about splitting the support bow on mine so that you could basically fold it up & store it out of the way w/ the top rolled up. Was going to use 1 of the couplers(?) for the conduit??

All bikini's flap some from what I've seen (if only we were talking about the "other" kind of bikini's) & what others have told me....So guess it's a given. My buddy's Scout II had 1 & it flapped around pretty good till he had the strap's shortened...seemed to work pretty good. Sounds like it works on these FJ tops too...

I remove my top by myself in about ten minutes. This is how.
Remove all the top bolts even the anchor studs at the rear. Remove the little clothes hanger dodads on the inside of the top in front of the roll bar. These get hung up on the roll bar with my method. I leave these off, don't need them. Open the side windows. Lift each side of the top by the window opening and slide two towels between the top and bedside. Two towels end to end so the top does not touch the bed. After each side is toweled close the tailgate. Grab the rear of the top and slide it back until you can set the rear on the ground the front will still be on the bed a tad. Be cautious doing this and take your time. Pull it straight and slow so it doesn't fall off the side. Once the rear is on the ground lift the front vertical and pivot it around to lie flat. I then lift the rear so it can be stored on it's nose nice and flat. You can stand on the inside with your back to the headliner and carry the top to another location using the open windows as handles. The top is 140lbs but doesn't feel like it if handled properly. Installation is a little harder but is still doable.
I just grew tired of waiting for a friend to come over to help.
Bottom line is be careful and you'll be fine. Maybe have a buddy spot you the first time around.
Take care!!

No, no, that was a misunderstanding. I appreciate your suggestion/explanation. But, what I meant was the top has never been off THIS 4Runner. I had an '89 that I took the top off and put it back on myself regularly. But, this one is a little bit different (see my avatar). It has ~20" of lift, 39" tires, I can barely jump high enough to pull myself up on the open tailgate (I'm 5'8"), and the inside is in show condition w/ custom gray carpet and trim around the edges of the top (where it attaches to the "bed"). So, I'm debating on whether I want to potentially "F" that up. I'll make a decision here in the next week...summer's a' comin'. :beach:
