Toyo Open Country MT's - 285's now available!?
I've been waiting for the 285/75 R16 Version of this tire to be available, and I did some checking and looks like they are available!!
http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...%2FT&pc=360280
The bad news is I didn't check a few weeks ago while there still was a $15 per tire rebate going on!
My MTR's have treated me well - I have about 40K miles on them and they still have about 5 - 6/32nd's of tread left. Not bad for an MT tire - but I think I'm going to try these Toyo's out next.

The tread pattern doesn't look quite as "open" as the MTR's so I could see that snow might pack in a bit more on these.

Les Shwab's computer shows that they can be ordered but once you do make an order, they call you up and say that TOYO didn't release them to the wharehouses when predicted. They estimated mid-spring. Thats all I have heard.

If anyone finds anything else out about them - let me know.
Thanks,

A guy i work with had them on his truck and he said he absolutely hated them, he said he but them for the looks at first, but then they didnt perform so he ditched them.
It will be interesting to get a few different opinions

I actually was reading a FORD F150 thread and several people raved about them - I'll see if I can find the thread.

There is so much competion in tires these days that they have been advertizing before they are available. Many of the new sizes and tread patterns will be out starting in May through the middle of the summer from what I understand.

Well, I just got off the phone with a toyo dealer - the 16" sizes are basically the last ones they're going to produce. So he said the 285/75 R16 is about 2 or 3 months out. For some reason they have done all other sizes but the ever popular 16" rim is the last on their list.
Don't know if it's worth the wait - or if I can even stretch my mtr's that long.

Hmm. So I call the 1-800 # on the Toyo site and talk to another person and they say Mid March - dealers can expect to have the 285's in.
Hmmm. who knows.

Ok, one laste update and I'll leave it be. I emailed 1010tires.com (who in the first post of this thread said they had the tires) and asked if they actually had them...
Their response (which I hope is true)...

I was looking to get a set of these a while back and after talking with Toyo several times and the date of release constantly being pushed farther and farther out I decided to get a set of MT/R's instead. Must say I have been very happy with the Goodyears thusu far.

Just called Discount tire in San Diego and they can have any 16" size ordered and in 2-3 days. also said that they would be happy to test fit another brand of equal size to determine fit before ordering. I got a quote of 170/tire for 265/75R16's.
