Check the offset. OEM Toyota 16x7 wheels typically have a +15mm to +19mm offset and fit fine with 265 section width tires. Offset is cast into a spoke on the back of the wheel (16x7 JJ 15).

I have some 17x7.5 08 4Runner wheels with a +30mm offset that barely clear the upper A-arm with 265/65/17s. That's probably about has high as you could go with width/offset on a stock truck. Anything lower is no problem.

Can you squeeze 33's on a stock 91 pickup? or just 31's?

I plan to put on 32 x 11.5 BFG A/t's on stock 4runner but with the Toyota Tacoma wheels.
Am I ok w/o lifting it? I know these wheels go in an inch when put on sec gen 4 runner. I am ok buying spacers if I need em. Appreciate your advice.. and will show pics when complete.

Done a lot of searching! Tire question

I have a stock 1997 4runner and i need tires asap. There a ton of Jeep Wrangler JK take offs on craigslist... they are 255/75/17... i have 265/65/17. i know the jeep tires are bigger but they are also thinner... will i be good to mount these without a lift? i don't mind trimming a little bit either. i was looking at the non-rubicon ones since the BFG's would probably rub too much due to the more aggressive treads... please let me know!

Question 275/65R18s on a stock 92 4Runner?

Guys,

I have a chance to pick up a new set of 275/65R18 for a good price and was wondering if they would fit and what backspace I would need on a rim. I have read all 18 some pages of this thread first and didn't see what I was looking for is the reason I am now asking.

Thanks,
Greg

General rule of thumb is to stick to stock backspacing for best chance at fitting. Looks like approx. a 32x10.50 size tire, may fit, may need a little fender trimming or lift to fit depending on the wheel specs and mounted tire size. You can also measure against what you have on there now and get a better idea:

If you look at my earlier posts in this thread, you'll probably find the same information posted in so many words.

33 x 10.50 -15 work great without body lift on stock or 15 x8 rims

I'm running 15x8" old school chevy rims with 33x10.5 bfg at's.. they rub at full lock and stuff and all I have are adjusted torsions .. That being said, my 33x12.5's didn't rub any worse - also an AT ..

As for the 18" rim idea above - whether it'll fit without rub or not, 18's on a 92 yota would look ridiculous.. don't do it..

The reason I was thinking about it is I can get the tires that are brand new mind you, for $100 each.... they are 275/65-18 and my old tires need to be replaced anyway. These were going onto a new model Tundra, but they got rid of the truck and never mounted the tires.

But the Interco tires tend to run taller than specified and usually narrower as well. I used to run some 33x15.50 Swampers and they were over 33.5" tall when new and about 13" wide. Most "33's" run about 31.5-32" tall when mounted, at least the BFGs I have had over the years.

For 33's of any variety you'll need to do a little massaging like the valence, inner fender lining, pinch weld etc... Nothing omg drastic but a little here and there to get the most out of the tires in terms of being able to use them in all conditions without rubbing.

31x10.5x15 on stock rims (87 in the back is 31x10.5x15 on stock rims too)

33x12.5 on 8" wide rims

33x12.5 on 8" wide rims, had to remove valence and inner fender skin..

33x10.5 on same 8" wide rims above.

bed clearance is tight, but I lift a tire before I hit the bed so it works out well..

should go with a 1" suspension or 1" body lift for 33's I think, even though mine don't rub anymore I've had to cut a few things up and on full stuff and full turn I still nudge my fender sometimes..

I stuffed 33X13.50 toyo open country mud terrains on 16" wheels with no lift. on my '93 truck. cut some fender off the front and rear, and some pounding with a sledge and your off. Looks amazing
