Question on fitting 18's on 3rd gen runner?

I currently have stock 16's with 265/75/16 terra grapplers. My question is how close will the tire size be with 18's on with 285/60/18?

Does anyone have pics of 18's on a 3rd gen runner.

I dont off road this much, more of a beach car and tow vehicle for my skis and atvs.

you have plenty of room for 35x12.5's you may can go a little wider than that, but maybe not too much wider. you could even do a narrower 36 or 7 if the rear doesnt get flexed too much, that is a very nice lookin truck you have there too, i wish mine still looked that good.

I can't win.

Look, I was just making a joke man. Didn't mean to step on your toes, apologies. Good luck with the tire search, hope you find what you are looking for.

You said "flex alot" in an IFS thread. IFS doesn't flex a lot. Neither do the rear ends until you get some long springs or hack off the leaf springs. Even long travel doesn't flex much. Better than stock, but not much.

Most posting here, including myself, have IFS. Flex is not something that is normally worried about on these trucks. Most just want to fit tires, and are concerned with the front when fitting tires.

That was the joke. It was meant in a good natured, fun way, as I have IFS too.

Some people take themselves more seriously than others. You got the apology you were looking for, and I'll re-iterate, I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers.

As for your original question, you can fit 35's just fine. I have a much flexier rear end than most people, and I fit them with just a little trimming at the back of the fender. With your lift, you won't have to do any trimming in the rear.

I got a 90 4runner I bought the same way. Just cause it came like that doesn't make it right. Too narrow a tire on too wide a rim.

if you do it, you might as well throw up some dingle balls across the dash and put zebra print seat covers in. maybe even a decal of an Aztec sacrifice. lol.

just a bad idea man, especially if you're planning on taking it off the pavement or pulling too close to a curb. your rims will get chewed up real quick as they're no longer protected by a protruding tire. you'll also be more susceptible to popping a bead if anything hits that tire from the side.

i have used 31x10.5 on 15x10.5 for 3 years without any issue, just don't air down or your rim will spin inside your tire..

Question Lift and Wheel backspacing

Im currently piecing together the parts to do the TRD/L.C. coil lift on a 3rd gen 4runner. My question involves wheelbackspacing and stability. I currently am running Tacoma 16' wheels on 265/70/16 Wranglers, but am contemplating a 235/85/16 or a 255/85/16 tire setup after the lift. Im thinking, if I go that route, that wheel spacers would provide better stability and give me less of that sucked in look. my question is what size spacers would be Kosher. I know that L.C. wheels would be better, but wanted to get the forums opinions, especially recomendations on spacer width and need for front and back or just front.
