I'm torn

Ok, I have to order new tires for my rig.... I'm going with 33x12.5x15... just like I did last time.

Here are my options

Firestone Destination M/T - I had these on the last rig. Loved them. I beat the crap out of them and they kept on going.

BFG Mud Terrain KM2 - These are literally $57 more (total) than the Firestones... How do they hold up, how do they do on street, mud, trail, and rock?

Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar - Anyone use these?

I'll take photos of the BFG and the Goodyears if you have them on your truck...

I've gotta do something soon as I get my truck back in a week or so.

Thanks

I have had the km2 on my truck for 4 years now with 20k mi and they easily have 75% tread left. They get great traction on pavement rock and snow that is what I have used them in and they aren't as loud on road as most mud tires. I love them and will buy them again.

Just curious why you run name brand tires and pay top dollar??

Most likely to advertise the tire

I have been buying tires from the same dealer since the late seventies buying what ever was his house brand with no problems. As much as $70.00 or more less then name brands.

These tires being made in one of the major US plants.

Since there are only a few companies in the US still making tires with most coming from the Southeast Asia area.

Tires are almost always a compromise the softer the compound the better the traction the faster they wear .

Harder compound less traction longer wear.

Because I don't care about saving a few bucks on something that my life depends on every day. Sidewall blowout at 70 can kill you.

Those are the 3 tire options I have researched. They are all the same(ish) price. I'm looking to see what others are running currently, and what their experience is with those tires.

I ran the Firestone destination m/t's for several years. They served me very well and took tons of abuse. I've ran them aired down to 8psi without incident. The bead reinforcement is on point I never lost a bead and even pounded the rim lip back into round with a hammer on the trail but did not loose bead.

Good on the highway with good wet weather traction.

Sadly they fell victim to the California sun while waiting three years for me to finish a overseas tour.

No expereince with the other two. But do plan on trying one in future.

My buddy finally had to replace his km2's on his 2500 duramax with over 60k miles on them. Not saying they are the best but they are a good tire for the money. Also as noted above any tire made in the USA is probably going to be a good tire. If it were me I would get km2's if in my budget then 2nd would be generic USA made tires of your liking. Just my opinion
