BFG MT -vs- SS TSL Radials

I need a good all-around tire. Gotta be good in the rain/snow as a daily driver, and good on the trail. Gotta wear reasonably well (30k miles would be nice), and be quiet enough to talk over in the cab.

Thoughts?

SWAMPERS! I am swapping my BFG's out after I get my BL installed. I need a more aggresive tire than the BFG's. sound is not a problem for me either, since the tsl's will probably be LOUD.

Did you even read what the guy wrote? He clearly wants nothing to do with a set of swampers. Swampers are loud and wear like crap and unless you like driving a paint shaker, I would steer clear of them...

The SS TSLs suck in the rain. And on slick snowy roads, you'll have trouble getting out of your own way. Go with the BFG.

I think he was joking. I'm pretty sure INsr5runner knows that swampers are loud and wear like crap. That why he stated that.........swampers are good for where we wheel in Indiana.

Don't fit. I'm looking at 33/10.5-15. Tires available in that size are few and far between.

Like I said before, MTR's or Dueler Muds. A locker will do more for you than a set of tires. You can have street tires and a locker and do better.

As for your 15 vs 16 wheel question, you will have no issues what so ever.

I would shoot for 285/75/16 MTR's. Tried and true, no guess work.

Swampers seemed to do well in the Colorado mud, but in Arizona all the seem to do is dig to China.

yeah I was joking. There is a dramatic difference in tires from an AT, to a Swamper. Why not even get a cheapie MT before a Swamper? but I still like the swamper look, and like to see 4Runners with nice mudders on. so chiiiiiiiil.

I am keeping my AT's for the winter, and swapping come spring.

i've got dunlop mud rovers and they are loud as hell. so stay away from them if you want quiet.
probably not as loud as SS's though...

the MTRs are a good tire, but they are more for rock and stuff than mud, so if you want mud tires go for the BFGs or maybe look at procomp. a friend of mine has procomp M/Ts and they are quiet on the road.

So other than Dave, has anyone with Swampers posted?

If you want a streetable tire that will wheel, BFG's or MT/R's are were it's at.

Swampers actually measure what they read, so consider that as well.

Other than assorted balancing issues, I love my MT/R's. Not a rocking mud tire with the power that I don't have, but they wheel well and are great on the road.

Commit to 33's no matter what or stick with 285's for piece of mind.

My swampers were a nightmare on the road. My MT/Rs are great on the road and do very well off road. I echo Steve and others in recommending MT/Rs, I personally think they are the best all around tire.

The best all-around tire period is the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo!
