thanks mark
i might be going out to harbor freight this weekend and getting some metalworking tools to fab up my tool box, but i'll also be looking at my trailer axle. i think the surface rust is ok, and it doesn't look bent, but i want to replace the bearrings and all that good stuff. later, i might be getting brakes for the thing, but it's light enough for now. one thing i do want to take care of is the sway system. we had one on our old trailer, and it was great. when i went to pick this one up, it was going back and forth every time a truck passed by. a bit un-nerving to say the least.

Oh yeahhhhh! That happened to my coleman pop up.... and went to look under there, ...the sway system WAS caput! lol. Our buddy was a traveling mulberry, lol.... so he had alllllll kindsssss of extra crap laying around, including that, ..... and brakes, and he even had all the electrical stuff that was rotted out.. then he did it for me and my wife for FREE! lol. I guess that's what you call "truly loving a hobby!" hahaha. i GET THAT..... I would help anyone on here that I was capable of helping, tangibly, in person, ya know?
Right on... I REALLY DO think those are one of the BEST toys for camping out there. I obviously don't wanna drive 55mph 675 miles to Auburn, etc..... BUT, I also LOVED being able to DROP THAT SUCKER, run into town, etc., without having to worry about some big contraption on my rig, etc. We even walked it in, all crazy angles, on this trail where we wanted to camp. I could 4wheel in, easy... but with the trailer? yeah, not so much, ..so we just dumped it, rolled in winched it in part of the way and pushed it up this hill, by hand, almost 45* angle! hahaha. (not up the hill like that... just around a log, at an angle on a straight away... You know, it was driver side down, pass side up kinda thing)... One of the BEST camping trips I've ever had, to this day! NO ONE could get back in there with their campers, trailers... they were all, "HEY, how'd you get back there, heli-drop? WTH?" hahaha.
Sorry to ramble... just excited for ya! Admire your tearing into stuff until IT SUBMITS! HAHAHA.

it should. i'm looking forward to not changing lanes every time a truck passes. i just found out that my mother got rid of the sway bar we had on the old trailer, so i'll need to find another one.
as for the welding, i know a bad welder blames his tools, but it was a first time with flux-core, and a non-auto mask. cant. see. crap.

It's funny.... I really need to get some welding equipment.... cuz I was REALLY good at it in High School Metals shop and then when I helped a buddy restore/mod Interceptor Cop Cars... That was 20 years ago... but I had a steady hand, did fine... not sure why I don't wanna be bothered with it now.... I bet I'd have fun making my own rack, rear tire carrier, etc.! lol. Just need that infamous aloof MR. TIME! lol.

Great job Ian, try to grind metal on both pieces to a silver and flux will work just fine. I was not sure what you meant by sway system now I see, very neat.
Chef, I just ordered what you need for welding those things . I will send you one because I ordered two from home depot ,they will call when my round tuit comes in .

hehe... hopefully this weekend i can start my roof! gah, it's been long enough! the metal's cut and ready for the welder, so i'm anxious to finish this up. it'd be great to go camping before thanksgiving while the weather's still warm-ish (or rather, not cold)
