OM617 Swap questions
Hey all,
A few weeks back I bought a OM617 swap from a guy on Craigslist. It's the turbo 952. I just got done mounting it in my 86 runner that still has the IFS. For those of you that have done this, how did you run the exhaust? I assume I'm going to need a pretty serious body lift but just wanted to get an idea of where to start. My transmission and transfer case are stock Toyota and the cross member is mounted in the stock location. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Great choice on the om617. I absolutely love mine! I have a 91 ex cab pickup that i swapped mine into and as for the exhaust the only hard part was the down pipe. I would highly recommend a 2 inch body lift as it gave me way more options on how to route the exhaust as well as tons of clearance under the hood. I am running a 3" downpipe off of a 7.3 ford which if i were to do it again i would do a 2.5" because it was a PITA to make it work using the flange from the benz. After the downpipe its a true 3" pipe that crosses over and out the passenger side all the way to a 4 inch tip where the factory one was. The exhaust tucks perfectly under the arch of the engine. Also make sure you don't fab the downpipe to where it is close to the starter. I will snap a few pictures tonight of my setup and post them for you to reference off of.
Good luck!
