1986 4runner om617 swap.
I am currently looking into buying an '86 4runner DLX with the w56 trans to convert to a diesel. After some research I have settled on the om617.952. I have quite a few questions even though I have spent the past oh 5 hours or so scouring through forums from here to timbuctoo (4bt forums). Being that it is an '86 I know i will have to do a SAS with an '85 front axle. Ive looked at the TG IFS eliminator kit probably going with the 3" so I can do a 2" body lift to help with clearance of the engine. Will the 3" lift eliminate the problem of having to cut the oil pan? What all is involved in lifting the rear up 3" to make it all level? IF anyone has recommendations for radiators and fan combo preferably where I don't have to cut the frame would be wonderful. Thats as far as it goes for my knowledge on the swap any other information is greatly appreciated and if anyone has done a swap on an '86 would you happen to know the total pricing for the swap? I sure wish there was a step by step guide for this.

I've done this swap on my 90 V6 Toyota 4runner with out touching the oil pan and pushing the engine and tranny back check out my thread.
Well is this truck just going to be a play truck that's gonna be insured and tagged and just taking out the weekend kind of thing or planning to daily drive it?
I Have 35s on mine with just 2in spacers and trimmed fenders but i did have to cut my frame up and extend it.... All in all i spent 500 for the truck 1100 for a complete running 83 300sd
500 adapter plate i think and 1200on stuff it needed clutch, shocks, hose, clamps, etc etc.....
But if you need help let me know ill try to give you as much info as i can

Hello and welcome to the Forum. Please reference my build thread linked in my Sig for any general questions. You absolutely do not have to do a solid axle swap for this motor swap. Also, a body lift has absolutely nothing to do with oil pan clearance. I do, however, recommend a 1 inch body lift. It makes working on everything much easier. I would never recommend a 2 inch or greater body lift to anyone. Again, please read through my build thread as I have done this swap multiple times and have lots of good info in there that will answer most if not all of your questions. I also have a sales thread in the classifieds where I sell most of the components to do the swap.
