Does anyone know of anyone thats done one of these engine / trans swaps?
This is the same engine / trans that is in the Tundra that Top Gear used in the North Pole exploration episode, Im wondering it would even be possible to swap this baby into my 88?? --- Day Dreaming here

it is not from a tundra. it is a inline 4 3.0. you would need the complete wire harness and ecu. When it comes right down to it, it cost to much to swap. you better have alot of money to burn and alot of time. everyone wants a 1kz but not many people have the time or money.

I did it with a 1kz-te (ecu). It's an awsome swap but that is a little pricey for just the motor/trans. I got both diffs, driveshafts, radiators, ecu, wiring harness, air cleaner, crossmember etc for $3750. Just keep in mind you can make a bunch of this if need be but it takes a lot of time measuring everything out right. The trans x-member is different from any US ones. Look over at toyotadiesel.com and several people have buildups there with this motor. All the stuff I mentioned is 1kz specific and would need to be addressed. Good luck with it if you do it.
