WOW...that thing has been in the works for three years?!?!?! I think I might look at the 3.4 swap as an alternative to my 3.0 when it goes south on me; seems to be a lot easier.

Well ive read through this whole thread and there is more information here about this swap that a chilton book would have in it I just got my 1UZ for my second gen runner. Bought the runner from a friend that was driving it around with a thrown rod and didnt have a clue lol. So from the start it needed a new transplant.... The work youve done on your truck so far is awsome cebby! It helped me in deciding to go through with this.... I was originally planning on using the original A340H with the 1UZ for awhile untill i had a bit more money saved up for the F version. finding those shafts from a lexus transmission seems like it might be hard to do though without just buying the whole transmission. Everything seems doable but I still am fuzzy on the speed sensors on the transmission being compatable with the 1UZ ECU. That is the only thing that is bugging me on trying to keep an auto. I really wanted to keep an auto in it aswell, but after reading this and some of J.D's endless knowledge postings im getting worried... Unless i found a t-100 tranny (which are getting pretty hard to find) then it would be pretty expensive getting the Transfer case swapped back over to the right side with the Marlin adapters.. am i right?? J.D also mentioned using some chevy trannies. That would be cool but the T/case on those are on the wrong side aswell! My options seem pretty slim. Is there anyone who has a running 1UZ with a auto yota tranny around?? Twisty has a sweet ride that looks like is running great... Not having the speed sensors hooked up for the lexus ECU doesnt affect anything i guess???? How are you getting the speedo readings and everything though Is that R150 tranny handleing the Power well/ has it had any mods done on it... is the only adapter for it through delow?? Its looking more and more like im going to need to swap over to a manual to run this engine. LOL sorry for the novel guys just tryin to figure it out..

The Prado was named as a "Landcruiser" Prado to leach off the Landcruiser name for sales purposes.

It is not a full size Cruiser and in fact it was designed off the 3rd generation 4Runner chassis. The largest engine the current 08 models have is a 4.0 V6. They have never had a V8 and are not a full blown Landcruiser

rdd014runner

Mate first advise is do NOT even think about using an A340H

My thoughts on these auto's are already posted in Cebby's thread but in your case rather than go the A343F way it maybe a lot easier to start with a Lexus and matching A341E and complete harness, ecu from a half cut.

ie, Start with an A341E already bolted to a Lexus V8.

Remove rear housing and just source and fit an A343F transfer.

By far the easiest as the trans is already wired for the Lexus ecu and engine etc. All you need to do is fit the Toy A341E speed signal to the A343F trans output, cut the output shaft to suit to fit the transfer and your done. However, if it was me I would also look into fitting the A343F deeper oil pan

The benefits are if you have the full Lexus harness from a half cut its plug and play for both items as they are meant for each other

Here's how to adapt the A343E to the Toy transfer compliments of Duza in Oz. Duza's real happy with the auto.

http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/s...d=1#post693678

But I still consider the R series 5 speed a much better overall proposition as you get direct drive, use whatever gear you want, no additional hot oil cooling issues, better mpg, no freakin wireing required the list just goes on

Besides my new project of building a new stroker 347 as my current engine has now done well over 250,000klms I'm looking at fitting a T56 to get the double overdrives

Thanks for the link JD that was very helpful. I already have the engine, so to late on getting one with a tranny. That A341E would work but finding a transfer case over here would be hard to do since they didnt have them in the U.S Im thinkin im just going to swap mine over to a manual. I wanted to get ride of the 340H anyways! Its a good thing i got my truck for 200usd because this is going to be quite a bit more befor its done.

I'm not sure what difference Duza is referring to but I know guys that have bolted an A343F auto transfer to a 5 speed no probs.

He maybe referring to different spline counts for the coupler and I could be wrong as it's not something I've had to check, but if that's all it is then that's no big deal as swapping a transfer input shaft takes 15 minutes

It might pay to check the bolt pattern of a US 5 speed Toy/4Runner transfer and compare it to the A343E rear bolt pattern to confirm etc.

However, I thoroughly recommend the 5 speed

If going through the gears with a v6 is fun.. with a v8 it must be REALLY fun.

I wish somebody would come out with a kit already for this damn swap.

Welp my R150F is on its way As soon as i get all the other misc. parts put together Ill start the install. Hopefully ill get done with it in a month..... well see though. Still kinda worried about how the engine mount is going to turn out for the 1UZ but I think ill be able to pull it off.... Oh one thing.... does anyone know if the auto tranny crossmember is different from the manual... or are they the same... I know they require different mounts. but do they bolt up to the same crossmember??

Cebby no longer posts on yotatech, so I wouldn't count on seeing any updates or progress.

When I first saw that he was going to have to make a custom oil pan I knew that was going to be one big PITA swap.
