This took a TON of work as I went a little crazy on the engine and decided to go Adaptronic ECU and build a new front end as well. I have some tuning to do and I need to calibrate sensors and adjust the ISC but hell... IT RUNS!

NICE! the 1uz swap is a lot of work, my hats off to you.

 

So much work drives you mad. I went a little nuts on the upgrades but I figured I might as well just do it and get it overwith so I won't regret it. I don't recommend anyone do one of these swaps unless you have your own shop and a few thousand to throw at your truck without flinching. I had to do it cause I had the 3RZ in mine. =]

If anyone is contemplating this swap just sell your truck and buy a Tundra!

 

i plan on doing a carburated chevy small block swap. simple, powerful, and easy. (well tranny mount relocation is no easy task but easier than wiring harness swap lol)

 

Yeah that will make life a little easier using a small block. I thought about that but I'm not so sure about the fuel mileage those have to offer. I just had to keep my truck Toyota. That would save you a lot of money going that route though. Just depends on how much you want to drive it and if it's to be a daily driver I guess.

 

yeah its definately not going to be a daily driver so fuel consumption is not a worry for me.

Yeah the whole engine running smoothly is a long process. Everything is so new on the engine inside and out that everything needed adjustment. So I was more stressed than anything when I started the truck for the first 20 times! But now I'm in pure disbelief every time I drive this thing. It's such a dream come true. The truck seriously rips burnouts on demand rolling or whatever. I can let off the throttle while doing like 10-15mph and just slam on it and the wheels will start spinning again. Gives you wood every time.

I still have a lot of tuning to do. I know the power will improve even more and the engine will run even smoother with some work. I'll be fabbing a sweet transmission cross brace this week and also putting together a street exhaust as this one is pretty much offroad only it's so loud. Sounds like a stock car and people really get a kick out of it. I'll be getting more vids when the computer is tuned better and I get my tranny braces made up. I also can't wait to start working on the 9" swap and doing the front suspension as well. I could possible be doing the cage next month too. All in good time.

Wow that sounds awesome Smitherz, i really like the forum you made, ive been on there so much haha.. i have the same headers you do but i couldnt use them because the driver side wouldnt clear the steering shaft, i hope mine sounds that good.

Hey Yotathespian87 I'm rockin the W59 and transfercase right out from behind my stock 3RZ. I'm not cutting it any slack either. This truck just rips tires all over the place. I can't wait to regear it but that won't be until I have the new 9" rear ready to go. I have been steadily tuning my standalone computer and the throttle response is insane now. I have to seriously let off the throttle when coming up on turns especially if there are ripples in the pavement as the tires will lose traction under power. And my dampening is not stiff at all in the rear. I'm loving this truck the more I tweak it. Tonight me and a buddy just finished up making a boxed crossmember for the transmission to sit on. Now that the mounts are all really strong it feels even more solid and I can't wait to try it out in the morning. Wait till I get a video of the engine rippin in the higher RPM's. It's absolutely insane. >:-)

Yeah this thing is a dream to drive. We can't have enough power. Speaking about tires I scored some Walker Evans rims recently and put some Goodyear Kevlar all terrains on em. These should give me some more traction for sure but my rear end is about to fall apart so I won't be spinning these nearly as aggressively as the muds.
