Sorry, I missed that post. Don't know how but I did. Thanks. What was the part number on your prerunner adapter from inchworm. I waas looking on there site and can't find one for the Lexus? I see for Toyotas. Part number would be great. Getting ready to start buying some parts.

depends on your transfer case , I used a 21 spline gear case so I also used the inchworm #300-0052

Going off of their instruction sheet.

Thats is for a 4cyl. transfer case and I thought you and I both had a V6??? But if this is what is working for you then I will go that route.

@ RMA: this place is a local (to me) salvage yard that deals specifically with Lexus. I've been by there many times when i had my 90 LS. they may be able to help you find a decent EGR tube.

Hello .
very interesting and detail project. I been doing research to do same to my 1988 4 Runner. I cant decide to go with Chevy 350 or Lexus v8.
Just to fill you in on Ca emission testing at the referee station , the referee will do the following test , smog the truck on the dyno , will do complete inspection ,making sure you have all the emissions equipment on the truck from donating car, and also will set few codes manually , to see if the ecu will respond to the codes and check engine will light after doing so . When the truck passes all the inspection he will issue a plate that gets mounted on the door post with BAR reference or referee # on it. In the future when you go in for biannual smog check inspection the smog technician will enter the BAR label # from your door post , then he can proceed with smog check inspection.

You got this swap done in a hurry. It's great to see just about everything working. A friend of mine put a 5VZ engine in his 4Runner and is happy but he wishes he had a 1UZ into it. The only benefit of him using the 5VZ over the 1UZ is that he passed the smog process without a problem. =]

Whats Up Smitherz , I really dont see a problem passing smog , especially once im done with the Ref.
Why do you think it is easier to pass smog with a 5vze , or am I reading this wrong.

Hey just got back from the American LeMans race up in Monterey. Need to make some time to give my project some attention later on today. I don't want to talk about smog because it's all up to your local smog ref (and DMV) and how nice he or she wants to be to you. Every area is different and every persons truck is a different situation! I don't think there is any recipe for passing smog or not passing smog. I've heard all sorts of things and I've seen a friend get papers for his engine swap (not Toyota or Lex) without the DMV lady even walking outside to look at it. Just keep all the factory smog equipment on it and just about anything will pass I think. Being nice and playing stupid also helps.

Do you think you will run into problems with the stock v6 thirds?
And holy cow, I would love love love to have a 1UZ-FE in my 'runner. This swap is amazing. Good job, and good luck with getting it legal.

so cool man. 4.0L v8 in a 4runner sounds awesome! i plan on getting a 90/91 ext cab and swaping a 3.4 supercharged in here on some 31" bfg a/t's with a lsd rear for a DD and for some fun to drive heh. i would like the v8 but figure for me the 3.4 is better lol. that v8 would be nice on the hills unlike my 22re though haha. you have my respect for taking a big project like this cheers!

and thak you !!
I have her parked right now and am building a rear bumber and sliders.(well trying to atleast).
I am also swaping a LT1 along with the six speed into an automatic 1966 lemans for a friend of mine and have a 1963 Impala waiting in the wings for an LS1 with the six speed .
already mounted the engine and tranny in the lemans , now working on the wiring.
once my friends saw the truck finished they were coming out of the wood work wanting swaps done .
Ill post pics of the bumper and sliders when I get done with them.

Hi there,
I have had a really good read here about this mod of yours. 1st congrats on the rebuild, you will be very happy with the power the engine puts out, i am a V8 addict and have been for many years. I have used an Australian engine in mine and it is a 5.7ltr with a T700 behind it, and I did like you sat there and worked it out on my own in many places. I found it just makes you feel good about your achievement. I also modified my dash and changed instruments as well. mine is on another rebuild, still using the Holden engine but I too have gone for the fuel injection setup, and I can't wait to go bush with it again. once again congrats, and enjoy yourself it will be a ton of fun.
