Angry t100 3.4 engine to Tacoma 3.4 swap issue

Newbie here with a unique question (or at least to me anyway) I didn't find the answer to my question on the searches I have done so, I apologize if its already been answered.
I purchased a 96 wrecked T100 with 152000 miles on it for a good price so I could replace the engine in a buddies 96 Tacoma. Everything went well until ...
well here's my issue!! we had to use the Tacoma 4x4 Oil Pan and I used the t100 Dip stick. but.... they are no Room for the dipstick inside the oil pan!! the oil dipstick is too long... SO I cut the dipstick but... Still not enough room for it to do into the oilpan.. there for cant really check oil level.. I have put 6.5 quarts so I know it's full.
So what are my options?? What did we do wrong?

PS - I really don't want to have to pull the engine again ha ha

Swap the dipstick tube (guide) and dipstick from the Tacoma motor over to the T100 motor (that's now in the Tacoma).

The Tacoma's dipstick should be installed in the oil pump at the front of the motor, so you'll need to remove the plug that's installed there first. The dipstick in the T100 in installed in the middle of the block (front to back on the driver side) between the motor mount; you'll need to install a plug (either apply some RTV to the plug you pulled out of the oil pump, or pull that same plug from the original Tacoma motor and again install with RTV, or go buy a new one from Toyota).

Thanks for answering my question that is what I was thinking but wasn't sure but that brings me to another question, how do you get the plug out with the engine still in the truck ? IF I drill it out I would risk getting metal in the oil right?

I would try a pair of vice grips on the plug and see if you can rotate it back and forth a small amount, then when it can rotate, start pulling it up away from the hole (rotate back and forth to make it easier).

Ideal thing would be to drop the oil pan, and use a 1/4" socket extension (3" or 6") and a hammer to tap it out from the bottom. This probably isn't an option for you without dropping the front diff or lifting the engine enough to get the pan out.

I just pulled the 3.4 out of a 95 T100. It has the oil dipstick tube mounted in the oil pump assembly. The block has a plug on the side by the oil filter?

This engine is also a rear sump, so im assuming it will go in my 93 4runner 4x4 the way it is?

EDIT:: I just ran the VIN number on the block, it came out of a 96 4Runner with Auto Trans... Another thing I noticed, there is no EGR on this engine. the Left Header looks to have casting for EGR but there isnt one.

First off, you'll probably be better off starting a new thread rather than hijacking this one, as it seems that you have (or will have lots of questions).

Basically, to swap a 3.4 into an IFS 89/90 - 95 pickup/4Runner, you need to convert the bottom end (oil pan, oil pickup, dipstick, dipstick tube) to T100 parts. The issue is differential clearance; the 89/90-95 trucks use a passenger side diff, the 95.5/96+ Tacomas/4Runners use a driver's side diff. The largest convenience to the swap is that the T100 (first released in 93 with a 3.0, then converted to a 3.4 in 95/96) used the older passenger side diff for the entire production run (93-98), so a factory 3.4 engine assembly will fit into the 89/90-95 trucks without modification, but it you used a 3.4 from a Tacoma, 4Runner, or Tundra you'll need to convert it to match a T100.

The EGR was only used on some models, not all. You will know if you need to add an EGR setup based on whichever ECU you use.

I wasnt trying to hijack, i was commenting on that I pulled the engine out of a 95 T100 and it had the dipstick in the front.

Then I looked up the VIN tag on the block and its not the original engine. The engine came from a 96 4Runner.

so I really dont know what the hell I have going on
