Another "yotaman" 3.4 swap!
Well I'm finally getting around to working on my beast again after taking a couple year leave to focus on my little girl, house work, and do a few 3.4 swaps for other people. I think this will be my 6th swap.
I'll be doing a lot to my truck in the next 6 months including: a 3.4 swap, R151F trans, dual 23 spline cases, 4.7 gears, longfield output shaft, a custom 9.5" cruiser front axle, a FZJ80 rear axle, 37" MTR's, blah, blah, blah......
This thread will be for my 3.4 swap.
It'll be a basic swap using a 100K mile 2WD Automatic 1998 3.4.
Here's a couple of pictures of the motor. The patient is in the back ground.

I'll also be doing some more work on my Tacoma for my brother. He'll be joining the Toyota family here soon. He's adopting my Tacoma and will be building it up for wheeling.

I've also 5 speed swapped some and changed out diffs and suspension parts at the same time on some also.
Most of the time I just trailer the trucks to a buddy's exhaust shop and let him do whatever the customer wants.
I've also taken them the motor and bellhousing and let them make a crossover before putting the motor in the truck. I think the second option is the best if possible.
I'll more than likely just leave the exhaust on the passenger side for this swap and use a 3.4 bellhousing to put the slave cylinder on the driver side.
The 3.4 bellhousing may be deeper so I may not be able to use this option. I don't know just yet. I have a 3.4 R150 in the garage I'll measure it one day and found out if swapping the bellhousing is an option.

Okay.... Im thinking about starting this over spring break since i have 10 days off.
I will be working on it mostly non stop during that time though!
So without having that slave cylinder on the dirver side would it be possible to keep it on the passsenger side and have the exhaust dump out the driveside?

If you use the whole 3.4 R150 with the marlin adapter to mount a gear t-case, you can have the slave on the driver's side.
Otherwise, the input shaft would be an inch or so too short. I measured mine, plus the bellhousing lengths are listed on the MarlinCrawler forum somewhere. I'll see if I can find the specs thread there.
Edit: Here it is:http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=11245.0

I'll be using an R151 so I guess the 3.4 R150 bell housing may be out. I can not see paying $300.00 for the adapter plus I'd still have to buy a $150.00 23 spline 2.28 input shaft.
I'll just flip the crossover if need be.
