89 Pickup In need of wiring diagram
Hello, I'm in process of 3.4 swap in my 89. Got all the diagrams for the 2000 runner the 3.4 is from on techinfo.toyota.com BUT for some reason they don't have anything on a 89 pickup. At all, closest I found was wiring for a 93 Runner, and I dont want to rely on that. I even went to local Toyota dealer and they said that all that information is in books that its to old and not in the computers, and they threw out all their books last year.
So does anyone happen to have what I need?

I found another thread that someone had wiring that matched my 89, so I have that information. Thanks for the offer, though. I am having trouble finding info for my donor, a 99 4runner with California emissions. I paid for the subscription to TIS, but apparently didn't get what I needed for the dash harness before it expired. I can match up a few wires, but not all of them. I have the ECU all identified, just not the dash harness. The donor is also Auto trans, and i have the ECU of a 01 Tacoma manual. So far the ECU only had 2 pins I needed to swap (I think). Still trying to identify all the dash harness wires on the donor. I'm pretty sure I can ditch most of it or is for the Auto trans.
I will start making my spreadsheet to make the conversion harness, and if anyone has useful info for the 99 4runner (CA emission) I would sure appreciate it. Otherwise I may have to pay for a 3 day TIS subscription again. Can anyone point me to the specific drawing where I can track down what the dash harness functions are?

You don't need the dash wiring harness. You only need a wire for the oil pressure ( use the old one from 3.0 if you have oil gage, not light). I use the spped signal from my 95 dash to the ECU and it worked fine.

Thanks anthony1. I'm not trying to use the 99 dash harness, i had just cut the dash side pigtails connecting to the engine harness, and the engine side pigtails of the 3.0 that plugged to the 89 dash. I had planned on spicing the 99 and 89 pigtails together for a conversion harness, and be able to figure it all out on the bench the plug it in when done. Am I making it too complicated? I know there will be a lot of wires not used, because of the Auto trans, but is there a better or easier way? I was meaning that I was having a rough time identifying wire functions of the II1 and II3 plugs from the 99. Thank you for your help and any pointers you can give me are appreciated.

I know I can do it without cutting, but I have seen some make a conversion harness instead of repinning in the kick panel. I could be completely wrong and am willing to accept it, but I'm pretty sure my swap isn't just 2 wires. The dash plugs don't interchange, so it's either conversion harness or repin with a few splices. I would like to keep as much function as possible including a OBDII connector to help diagnose any running issues down the road. I am also in the Salt Lake area so I need to pass emission requirements yearly. I know there is a hell of a lot of wires on the 99 that I won't need with the swap, but fairly certain soldering 2 is not all I need. I only cut the harness on the engine side of the 3.0 to get that pigtail. If I don't need it, great! Thanks for your input and I really hope its as simple as you say.
