Some good progress in the last few weeks!
-Timing Belt, idlers, tensioner, water pump
-ToyOnlySwaps crossover pipe with new gaskets
-Modified 3vze engine mounts and new rubber
-New clutch with hd springs, pressure plate, flywheel from Marlin Clutch
-Oil sump conversion parts

Ughg and then I hit the wiring... here is where I am at.
I attacked wiring really hard and was able to get crank and fuel to work properly. Right now the issue is with the spark. I started to go down the rabbit hole of wondering if the doner 04' Tundra access cab came with an immobilizer and then I got discouraged with back-tracking my wiring and took a few months off. I gave away the doner Tundra without grabbing the VIN to verify if it had an immobilizer I few of the questions I have right now.
1. Has anyone heard of a 2004 Tundra 3.4 equipped from the factory with an immobilizer?
2. Did anyone else have issues getting spark on their swap and what was the solution?

My donor is a 99 4runner. I don't THINK it had immobilizer, (But its been March since I did wiring, and I forget). It seems tho, from the wiring diagrams, that an immobilizer could be deleted.
OTOH, I'm still waiting on valve shims, and doing other stuff before assembly. So a ways off before start. My gas tank... yuck.

Nice!! I just heard back from Cliff at Toy Only Swaps, nice guy, says he has heard of 4runners with immobilizers but never Tundras. Back to my wiring one last time and then I will buy an extra ECU and a pre-built harness if all else fails lol. What are you swapping that motor into?

It's going into a 95. I've pretty much stripped and redoing all of it. Now that I'm no longer a 'productive member of society' LOL I've had time to work on it. Probably ought to make a build thread.
The inside I took out of a 94 (that I'd originally gotten for the "runs and drives" motor). Fail. But the inside was pristene.
Toy swaps did my crossover. Its still in the plastic wrap! This weeks adventure is the fuel system. I think I'm going to just buy aftermarket tank. I darn sure dont want to fight that from hell to breakfast. There is like a 1/16" of tar type sludge, covering the bottom 3 or 4". It can be scrubbed with a scrapper if you can get to it. But then the top of the tank - where you can't see without mirror - is pretty rusty. I tried HCL (probably a 3 to 4% solution) with gravel, it helped the sides fairly good, but not much on the tar on bottom. My bad for not thinking about that 2011.

Yikes, that does not sounds fun to clean! I used baking soda and white vinegar and a chain in my motorcycle tank once to kill the sludge and then toilet bowl cleaner (HCL) and a chain to kill rust. Worked ok but that was on a smaller scale. You should do a build thread I would be interested to see it.

I now have confirmation that there is no immobilizer on the 3.4 Tundras from 2x reputable shops (ORS and Toy Only Swaps) both great shops, and I have bought things from both that have worked well. It is now on me to get back into the wiring and find the missing link.

She runs! I will fill in the gaps later, but I was able to get it to fire and then after powering the MAF and Throttle actuator was able to get a smooth idle around 1K RPM. Running a few codes so there is more wiring to be done.

Gosh it's been a long time! I was just reminiscing through my build post and checked out yours again. I don't remember the first start video, but my reaction was exactly the same!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I made a few trips out west for my company (Blitzraid) to test some new KTM footpegs and the goal was to take the Yota to haul the bikes but I needed more space so I rented an Isuzu NPR (which I now want one in 4wd ). Updates below!
I left off with a video of the beast running, but before that was a nightmare of wiring. I was not able to find a whole lot of info specific to the 04 Tundra 3.4 but I figured it out for the most part. Here is a shot of the garage command station!
I would do most of the schematics at my house and then test it out the next day in the shop.
I am going to try to upload the schematics soon in digital form as a resource for anyone doing a similar YMM swap.
