Replaced Fuel pump...takes longer to start now
I replaced my fuel pump this past weekend. The original pump was dead. I'm just glad it decided to die 100 feet from my house.
So anyways I replaced it and now it takes longer to start. I have to crank it over for 3-5 seconds before it starts. Sometimes it starts right up. Did I buy a defective pump or is something else going out too.
The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank if that helps. The vehicle is a 95 pickup with a 3vze, 4wd.
Thanks in advance.

you might have a leak in the tank at the pump outlet, allowing the line pressure to bleed down after you shut it off, so when you try to crank it, it has to fill the fuel line again before the injuctors get any gas...
