pretty much stock replacement is going to be the best bet... if you have a 4cyl, you can try to upgrade to a v6 radiator.... i beleive all replacement radiators are aftermarket units... probably except for the ones you actually get from toyota..... there are companies that custom make awesome radiaotrs for vehicles, but those radiators can easily run $500

You might be able to patch your radiator, to buy you a little more time. I had this happen to me and was able to keep it patched until I got the new radiator and had the time to take the 4Runner down for a little while.

IMO, I'd swap it out and eat the cost. That way you'll have peace of mind knowing that the core isn't plugged, which could cause overheating and eventually lead to other problems. Aftermarket parts may be cheaper, and if you can, find out whether or not it has been pressure tested.

Try Rock Auto I've had good luck with them. They have a great parts database.

I have a Modine radiator in my 4runner and it was worked fine for the past 2 years. I think it was about $80.00.

I don't know where your leak is, but my 84 Camry was leaking on the top of the radiator. I was able to patch it with JB Weld. It would hold for a while and then start leaking again. Really wasn't a big deal since it was on the top.

It got to be annoying after a while so I got a new aftermarket one from Advance Auto Parts for $120.00. Its made in China, but fit like a glove.
