small 350 idle problem

So i recently just picked up a 1994 Toyota pickup with a 350 small conversion with a edlbrock carb, turbo 350 transmission. anyways in park and nuetruel it idles at 1000 rpms and in gear such as drive and reverse it idles at 450. Now Ive adjusted the carb and the idle because it used to just die. everyone was telling me vacuum leak so i checked dident find anything actually leaking but did find something not plugged in. if any one has had this problem that would awesome if you could assist in this issue. Ive also been told it could be tranny but i don't think that would really effect the idle that much unless its the vacuum at the end of the tranny. Well thank you if you can assist

How did you check for vacuum leak ? Did you use carb cleaner or water in a spray bottle and spray around while listening for the motor rpm's to lope ?
Thats all i got .

I checked with carb cleaner and alot of people mentioned propane for around the brake booster. and of corse i did it while it was running i dident notice any change in rmps i did find a hose from the vaccum advance that is suppse to go to the front of the carb that was not connected to i connected that and it made it run a little better but it didnt change the diffrence in idle im starting to think its something with the tranny then but yeah im not quite sure but thank you for the reply
